House of Gods is an acute clash of styles, broken rules and a balance of opposites. We believe beige is blasphemy and more is more. From our rooms to our cocktail bar, the hotel is built to immerse you in a world of unapologetic extravagance. Let us Treat You Like You're Famous in our hedonistic hideaway in the beating heart of Edinburgh city centre.

Nestled in a prime location, the House of Gods Hotel captivates guests with its opulent, gothic atmosphere, though the dark and moody decor may render the rooms a bit snug for some. Praised for its cleanliness and unique touches like prosecco upon arrival and delightful breakfast hampers, the hotel's service is generally acclaimed, despite occasional communication hiccups. While the amenities are indulgent, a number of guests feel the experience might not fully align with the premium price, especially given the compact nature of the rooms.

Words can’t even describe how amazing this hotel is.
Stayed here for just one night in October and it was definitely an amazing experience.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and amazingly decadent with every little feature thought out even down to details in the drapes around the bed. The butler button was a great touch with the options for milk and cookies delivered, Prosecco brought to our room and even a button for breakfast in the morning.
Everything we could possibly need was in the room (including a nespresso tucked into the wall) and communication via WhatsApp with reception was faultless. The staff are honestly a massive credit to the venue, so friendly and chatty and really go above and beyond and are massively attentive.
We had paid for the HoG soundsystem with the in-room cocktail experience and it was honestly so much fun - every cocktail was presented beautifully and brought to our room by a hilarious bartender who was dressed to suit each theme.
The bar may be small downstairs but it’s gorgeous- the cocktails are great and once again the staff are extremely attentive.

Would definitely recommend the House of Gods for anyone who wants a super special experience in the heart of Edinburgh. The location is very central and it was a real treat.

Nothing negative to say about this hotel.
We had booked to stay on the final night of our trip to Edinburgh as a last hurrah and so had to check out of the previous hotel at 11, the staff here had no issue with us storing our bags with them ahead of the 1500 check in and even put them in our room for us. We booked the suite and is was beautiful, a good size and spotlessly clean. The suite comes with a free standing rolltop copper bath, projector tv screen, stocked mini bar, and a wet room. The coffee machine is hidden away behind a mirror and the plugs are in the right position for hair drying/make up etc. The staff are friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. It’s in a good location for the royal mile and castle etc and we still had a lovely nights sleep - if you’re looking for somewhere a bit different and really stylish - you can’t get better than this

Stayed in a gorgeous cabin room which was finished beautifully it has everything you need along with lots of quirky touches the tv is a mirror and behind another mirror is a coffee machine, room also has a small pre mixed cocktail minibar bar.The hotel bar is excellent with a great cocktail menu I sampled a few and they were devine, staff were really friendly and the location is perfect just a two minute walk to the royal mile.
One small critique rooms are really sound proof and never heard a thing from neighbouring rooms however the door wasnt it had a gap at the bottom so you could hear people coming and going in the corridor throughout the night it's the only issue we had but will definitely be returning when back visiting Edinburgh

My partner treated me to 2 nights away here in the House of Gods for my birthday. I haven't left disappointed. This isn't usually my cup of tea but I went in with an open mind and didn't want to seem ungrateful for a lovely gift! On first arrival the room felt pretty dark with little light which threw me off a bit. There is however underbed storage so we weren't tripping over our belongings. After I found my bearings I started to really appreciate the quirkiness and detail that has gone into making the place. We had the 'Treat Me Like I'm Famous' package which included a £50 tab for the bar, a bottle of prosecco and a breakfast hamper each morning. The room also had hand made chocolates and balloons on arrival which was a lovely touch! We had late check out which is always handy and on our first night we booked a slot to have a hotel staff member come to the room to make a cocktail which I've never had anywhere I've stayed! All of the staff were exceptional and very attentive but a special mention goes to Naomi on reception who really made our stay special. No ask was too big and she really made us feel at home. The cocktail bar was amazing. Very well priced and they were not shy on the alcohol which you tend to find in some cocktail bars. The quality of the drinks were also fantastic. No cheap or nasty tasting additives. They will make any cocktail you wish for even if not on the menu if they have the ingredients which in our case, they did! The breakfast was also lovely with bagels, waffles, tea, coffee, yoghurt, granola and bits and bobs to taste. The shower room was small but for a romantic getaway this wasn't actually an issue for us - I would have preferred it a little bigger if I had one wish but it wouldn't put me off staying again. Amazing job guys. Thank yo for the birthday wishes and for making our stay so lovely. We will be back to use our discount off our next stay for sure. No CONTAINS from me ;)

Wow, OMG, What can we say, amazing from start to finish, quirky, fun, friendly hotel in the Cowgate Area of Edinburgh, Bought this offer for my daughter, niece and sister's crhistmas prezzie, booked for February 16th as had other commitments, fortunately we managed to by-pass Storn Dennis and the weather was lovely, We arrived at 2pm, to be told the Mixologist wasn't starting to 3pm, no problem another member of staff got our first round in for us, after that the cocktails just flowed for 2 hours, we then had to make a dash for another couple of bookings we had pre-planned. On our return our room were ready and waiting for us, the pictures describe the rooms to a T, the tv screne is behind the big mirror, the coffee machine is behind the smaller mirror and there is a bottle of wine, whisky, crisps etc on a bar inside the room. Fortunately the heating problem has now been resolved and the rooms were just a nice temperature. The staff as already mentioned in previous reviews are just the best, seriously couldn't fault them. Breakfast isn't included but can be ordered for a supplement. Overall fantastic break in the capital, we will be back x

We were in Edinburgh for one night and had seen the ads for this new hotel. It was as promised, different. The styling was very definately 'fin de siecle' all heavy drapes, low lighting and dark colours. So dark was it, we got lost on our way to the bar, but having found it enjoyed a variety of cocktails. The staff were informal and welcoming. If you are in Edinburgh for longer this place would probably not suit you. The rooms are small, the space for clothes is limited to two hangers on the wall and a drawer under the bed. There is one delicate gold chair of the type seen at fashion shows, so not a place to sit and work or relax, the bar is for that. There is no breakfast, though it can be ordered through room service accessed via Whatsapp, we didn't worry about this as the Nespresso machine, hidden behind a mirror, provided the necessary caffeine and there are plenty of cafes in the old town of Edinburgh to enjoy whatever type of breakfast you want. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, it was a one off crazy place with design quirks aplenty and great for a night away from home.

The hospitality industry is being dealt some serious blows by constant rule changes which are becoming increasingly unclear and ambiguous for the average staycationer like myself. The House of Gods hotel has responded to this with an ingenious lockdown package which was an absolute delight and I have only positive things to say.

For a fixed fee, House of Gods were able to give us a package that fully complied with current COVID guidelines at the time of writing in Scotland. The caveat being that everything had to be served to our rooms.

Having said that it was an experience like none other. The opulently decorated rooms felt like sumptuous cabins which, although "cosy" (the rooms are small), had everything you could need - a gorgeously comfortable bed, TV with access to all the streaming services and buttons to summon, on demand prosecco, snacks and food.

My partner and I had an absolute blast and we would like to commend House of Gods for a truly unique "lockdown experience". We loved having prosecco and cocktails delivered our room; had what I can only describe as the best pizza I've had in Scotland; and the midnight feast was great. We also enjoyed using whatsapp to speak to the reception team. It was such fun and so unique.

I will definitely stay in House of Gods and I wish the team every success!! I sincerely hope you are there when all this is over.

From the outside it looks nothing like the inside! We arrived early and wanted to drop off our bag, we were let in by a member of staff who was entering the hotel and we were just left in the bar area, no staff were there. This was our first visit to the hotel and didn’t realise the reception was just around the corner, it would have been nice if someone had said “just round here to check in”. Anyway after looking around we dropped off our bag and went sightseeing. On arrival back at 3pm check in time, our room wasn’t quite ready along with a few others by the look of things, we were asked to sit in the bar and were provided with a glass of chilled water each. We were asked if we wanted to order from the bar, which we did. The corridors are quite dark but we could see where we were going. We had a Classic room which is a little bit bigger than the cabin rooms. Again it was quite dark but had loads of subtle lightning. The hotel was exceptionally clean. Loved the button ordering system in the room and the free room service although it took over an hour to receive our Prosecco and well over an hour for a cocktail from the bar, for which we received an apology and the charge was waived, very good customer care!
The rooms have well hidden items, e.g tv in the mirror, coffee maker behind another mirror, mini bar in beside unit etc. The bed seemed small but comfortable. The room/ hotel was amazingly quiet overnight. The breakfast was good, toasted bagel with butter and jam, although there was only one butter for two bagels! Tea, coffee, fruit juice, yoghurt topped with granola and an Apple each. Very quick delivery to the room.

Booked this for our wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it!

Every member is staff we dealt with was lovely, friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the classic room and added the Treat me like I’m famous package. On arrival we were seated and given Prosecco whilst we waited to be checked in. Everything is handled very personally. We were checked in and taken up to our room by a lovely guy who carried my bag.

The room itself is small but perfectly formed! It definitely has the wow factor, especially with the balloons and golden petals on the very comfortable four poster bed. The attention to detail is second to none and the monkeys above the bed made us laugh! The large mirror at the end of the bed disguises a built in tv, and the make up mirror hides a Nespresso coffee making machine. The marble shower room has a movement detection foot light which is great during the night when you don’t want to use the full light and also underfloor heating.

There are plenty sockets, storage under the bed which held both our bags (one a cabin suitcase), a fridge with water, juice etc (extra charge for these). We had a bottle of Prosecco included in our package, although I think in the future I would upgrade to the unlimited Prosecco!

We had cocktails in the bar downstairs which were fantastic - especially the espresso martini and the exploding drum. The girl who was serving us was lovely and chatty and made us feel so comfortable.

Breakfast has just been changed this week and you can now decide what you would like with your bagel. My husband had the Bomelette and I had a something??? Leither? The first was basically a hot filled meat omelette on a bagel which he loved, mine was hot (flavour not temp) salmon, cream cheese and pickles and was delicious. Also came with 2 mimosas, hot flasks of coffee and hot water for tea, milk, fresh orange and donuts! Loved getting it delivered to the room in a wee hamper - kinda felt like Christmas!

The package also included late check out (12pm).

Overall would highly recommend as an experience rather than just an overnight hotel stay. Loved every minute.

Only thing I would change (and it’s very minor) would be to leave the hamper at the door and just chap so the occupants don’t have to get up and ready for you coming lol.

10 out of 10 without a doubt!

Debbie and Euan <3

First time away after the restrictions were lifted following the pandemic. First time at House of Gods but we will be back soon! New favourite, absolutely perfect stay!! Staff were all incredibly friendly and we felt welcome and spoiled by this fabulous team!
The room decor is really decadent and I loved all the special touches. First time I’ve buzzed for milk and cookies!!
Cocktail package was well worth it. The cocktail bar is beautifully decorated and the cocktails are the best I’ve tasted. Very strong!
Breakfast came to your room in a little hamper and was just enough to set you up for the day, I really enjoyed the yogurt with granola and toasted bagels.
Lots of special little touches and just a stones throw from the Royal Mile. Highly recommend.
