We booked this hotel for 1 night so we could go to the theatre and have a few drinks without driving back to Glasgow. The location is perfect and in the middle of everything which is the best thing about the hotel. The staff had a personality of a robot. We expected the rooms to be small after reading the...

Terrible access up narrow stairs to a small reception Room even smaller about 6ft wide with double bed crammed in and a cabin shower etc, only just enough room to stand then have to climb over partner to get into bed, no window only extracteur for air and very noisy, can hear everyone coming and going Would definitely not recommend...

These are drop in plastic pods. There is zero sound insulation so you can hear everything, even 2-3 rooms away. They are very small but that didn't bother us too much and it is very centrally located but I don't care how cheap it is, if you can't sleep it's not worth it. Judging by the noise it is used...

This hotel is such amazing value - and if you read the website, they clearly state the style of the hotel. Is it very basic and very small, but actually very clean and in a perfect location! Princes St is right on your doorstep! One small drawback is the luggage storage at £2.50 a piece - I get it that...

The 'rooms' in this hotel (I use the word loosely) are tiny. They are approx 10' x 6'. which includes a small double bed and a shower/Loo. This is not advertised on their website. After having a good laugh at the size of it and having to dance around each other (one had to sit on the loo whilst the...

We came to the hotel at the end of February to see the rugby. For the price we paid in comparison to other hotels was brilliant and what recommend if you are needing a cheap getaway in Edinburgh. We were placed in room 2:1 small room with a window which in comparison to the people who were in a standard...

After staying in one in London I knew the room would be basic. Although I didn't quite expect how small the room would be. It was fine for 2 nights and it was reasonable for the price as it was rugby weekend and everything was pricey. We were lucky to have our rooms ready when we arrived a bit earlier...

The good: great location, cheap. The bad: they charge for every extra. The ugly: the bed sheet was loose on our bed and under neath the mattress was disgusting and was covered in hair, but it was very cheap.

The hotel is good, a perfect location with a friendly staff. But rooms are very small, while I booked the biggest one (9m) A good very small bathroom. The hotel is in a great central location and for £40 I wasn't expecting much. The room was tiny (I've had bigger rooms on a boat!) but for 1 night for 1 person at £40 that was just about alright (although there was a double bed, I'm not sure how 2 people could manage,) it was also spotlessly clean. However...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
