The pros with this hotel are the location- it's just perfect. I could've gazed from the dining room all day! The staff are friendly and efficient too. The new decor has made huge improvements without spoiling the age and character of this hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the buffet selection more than adequate. What stopped this from 5/5 was our...

As a regular with Indigo/IHG this new addition in Scotland's capital is perfect for both Leisure and business. Opposite Edinburgh Waverly train station and next to the tram stop from the airport perfect for connecting hassle free. It's only a month old which means there are still remnants of the old hotel visible however the service, comfort and quality of...

As IHG employee's our expectations for hotels is very high - this place did not disappoint! The interior was absolutely gorgeous, old and quirky, our room looked out onto waverly station and was just the most beautiful view. Very conveniently placed if you're travelling by train - right across the road! The service was amazing, Fiona on reception was an...

We had bit of a hard time finding the hotel, but once we found it we were totally convinced. Our room was magical! Huge, with a stunning view. The bed was one of the best we've ever slept in. At the bar, we had the greatest cocktails which were served with knowledge and passion. We had a great time.

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel in the last weekend of November. Room was lovely, staff excellent and the food was amazing. The Cranachan Mousse is to die for. We had a fantastic view over Princess Street, especially with all the Christmas lights. A visit to the cocktail bar is a must after a day's shopping, or in fact...

This place is all Very disjointed. Very little signage to say that it is Hotel Indigo. The bar is very noisy and the noise travels all the way up the stairs. Our room was small and facing Princes street so quite noisy. Staff were pleasant and helpful though. Great location but you pay for it

Stayed here this week for one night reasonbly priced, staff couldnt of being more helpful, manager Tony O Donnell more than helpful and friendly, Location couldnt be better and rooms where fantastic. Do alot of travelling around the UK for business, you can tell a lot about the hotel by the atmosphere in the bar which was great.

Has great rooms, Double Room was cheap for a weekend break, parking free WiFi, breakfast and dinner if you desire... Has some hot furniture styles here, with great views on Edinburgh. I would recommend more so around Christmas or new year.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
