Charlie was brilliant and very helpful getting our accommodation arranged when we rang at 7am the day we wanted to book in! He and all the staff were polite, accommodating, very helpful with information on local sights and transport. Brilliantly located and the apartment was great - just what we needed!! Thanks to all and we will be back again.

When we stayed here it was fairly easy to find and our welcome was outstanding. The tour of the apartment and the information provided was extremely helpful during our stay. The provided items for breakfast were sufficient to get us through until we did our own shopping at the nearby market and a map with detailed directions was given when...

We stayed here for 3 nights, the place was perfect. Ideal location near to all the attractions but still quiet enough to not be disturbed. The staff couldn't of been more friendly and welcoming. Really great value for money

This must be our fifth or sixth time staying here. Our older son is staying in Edinburgh and we travel with our 17 year old so like to have the comfort of staying is an apartment. Some other serviced apartments would do well to visit this establishment and pick up some hints as to how it should be done. Friendly,...

I'm not sure why you'd stay anywhere else in Edinburgh. A kitchen with provided essentials and snacks, comfortable beds, provided DVD's, private parking (at 10 lb a day) well positioned for you to walk anywhere in the city - what's not to like? Just be sure whatever GPS you use is mapped to the parking lot and NOT the front...

The location is ideal! Close to downtown and all the great tourist sites Edinburgh has to offer. Fabulous restaurants within walking distance. The ammenities at the hotel are prefect for a family visit. Extra bedroom give everyone their own space. Kitchen perfect for breakfast and lite lunch. Then, enjoy all the nearby restaurants! Thank you to the wonderful staff as...

The reception staff were amazing. The apartment was comfortable, well appointed and clean. Kitchen and clothes washer was a big reason I chose the Knight Residence. They even included a couple groceries. I'll book again when I return.

We booked the apartment for a week and have been very happy from start to finish with Sykes Cottages and the staff at Knight Residency. The apartments are high spec accommodation and the starter pack was a lovely touch. The apartments are perfectly positioned for the Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle (although the latter mainly up hill). Internet is very good...

Myself and my husband stayed at here for 2 nights in March, from first arriving to the minute we left we had a great experience. Firstly the secure car parking (absolute bargain in Edinburgh!) we were helped in with our bags and shown to our apartment. There was a lovely basket of cereal, condiments etc for us to use, bread...

The reception staff were great, we got into our apartment early which was very helpful. The apartment was well equipped, spacious and quiet, we slept very well at night. It was lovely to have a whole apartment rather than just a hotel room. It is very well situated for concerts at the Usher Hall, just a few minutes walk away,...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
