A proper gem in Edinburgh - beautiful boutique hotel with extremely helpful, lovely staff. The rooms were stunning, the lounge, bar area was also lovely, the atmosphere was great. We didn't eat here in the evening but breakfast was a veritable feast indeed!! The only thing to be aware of is there is no lift in this hotel, so if... More

Hi there Rhian M Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. You are correct, being a listed building from 1852 we do not have a lift facility but our helpful and friendly staff are always on hand to help with bags and shopping! So hopefully this is not too... We visited The Dunstane for two nights for my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived to sunshine & took our champagne into the conservatory, which we had to ourselves. Our room was in the building opposite the main reception/restaurant but this didn't bother us. The staff were really friendly & helpful. We had a package through Secret Escapes which included a 3... Wonderful hotel in Edinburgh, make sure to book your stay with breakfast at the hotel. They have a small buffet and then you can choose a hot breakfast from the staff. They even have haggis for breakfast, I was skeptical but it was super good! The staff was helpful and gave us lots of good information about sites.

This was a short trip, to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday by going back to the city of his birth! This hotel is lovely - very comfortable and welcoming, spotlessly clean, and the staff we had contact with couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. We stayed in the main hotel building, in a first floor front room with views... More

Hello there Thank you very much for the wonderful recommendation. We are very lucky with our location being very near Haymarket station but out of the main noisy centre. Some of our rooms do have lovely views of the hills and Murrayfield so be sure to request if this is important to you. Skerries is a lovely part of the... More

Stayed here for a wedding anniversary. Just a 10 minute walk form The Haymarket Station, right on the main road leading down towards Murrayfield. It's just a relatively short walk into the middle of Princesss street too. This for a relatively unfit 50 + couple. There are buses go past the hotel what seems every 2 or 3 minutes, so... More

Myself and my partner stayed in one of the luxury double rooms in the Townhouse - the room was extremely comfortable, the staff were very helpful and it was a great location with the airport bus stop right outside, and only a quick walk into the centre. Breakfast each morning was excellent also and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
