You get what you pay for, and we were looking for something reasonably priced within walking distance of town. Found the owner very accommodating, and breakfast was very good. We had a small room with a private bathroom across the corridor, but we couldn't fault anything.

Owner very friendly and helpful, as were his staff. Room was great - big and airy, with the most comfortable bed you could wish for. Great breakfast.Good range of restaurants a mere 10 minute walk away, leading into the city centre itself. Buses regular as clockwork if you don't fancy the walk. While we were there, there was some minor...

I enjoyed my stay here at Alison house. We ended up arriving later than we thought due to flight delays, we phoned to let the staff know and after speaking to two different staff members they said a key would be left out for us.. we arrived close to midnight but no key to be found. We rang the bell...

A great place to stay for £130/3 nights. The decor is nice, the old spiral stairwell cute and there's blackout curtains and the instant coffee is fair trade . The bed is comfortable if not a little small. The cleaner Catherine was very knowledgeable and helpful and though the owner didn't leave out the key on our late arrival, he...

My other half and I have stayed here following a course we had in Edinburgh. The hotel was easy to find and the staff were welcoming upon arrival. We have chosen a small double room as all we needed was a good nights sleep. The room had most of the things one may need - the only thing I would...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in a short trip to Edinburgh. The location is great, with frequent buses running to the city centre or a 20/25 minute walk. The rooms are large and the hotel quiet and small. The only negative was that the room was very cold when we returned in the evening, the main...

The hotel is in a good location for a short break in Edinburgh with frequent buses running into the City Centre. Our room was clean and Kristin went the extra mile in trying to print out boarding cards for the return flight and arranging a taxi back to the airport. Many thanks for a pleasant stay.

I stayed at Allison house about 7 or 8 years ago and had a wonderful time so when we were booking a trip this time I thought of here first. I found out it had changed ownership but due to its location I thought we would take the risk. The location is good. A 20 minute walk in a straight...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during our trip to Edinburgh. The hotel itself is very nice and not far from the city centre, around 15-20 minutes walk. There are loads of restaurants to have a bite in case you arrive late. Our room was very nice as well, clean, spacious, and cozy. I was a bit anxious...
