Charming Hotel in Fountainbridge just off Lothian Road, which makes Princess St,Usher Halls and The Castle within reasonable walking distance.Bus stops very close. Our room was small, clean and comfortable with a neat ensuite. Afternoon Tea was average,Breakfast was outstanding. The staff we spoke to were proffesional and friendly. We would happily stay at this Hotel again. If your driving pay the £12.00...

Nice hotel, friendly staff and very helpful. Accommodation and hotel good. Quiet location accessible to all public transport, 20 minutes walk to the grass market. Good base to explore the city. Hotel will store your bags before checking and after checkout giving you the freedom to make the most of your short break.

Did the Wowcher deal - train from Durham-Waverley-Haymarket. Short walk arrived just after 12.00am no problem leaving cases until check in. Given map of area- short walk to Grassmarket. Buses 1 and 34 run from just around corner from Hotel. Will get passes next time £1.60 to Princess St or £4.00 for day pass- worth getting. The Hotel retains a...

Myself and my husband are currently staying here for a three night stay. Two nights was a gift as a Christmas present and we paid for an extra night. Included in the package was an afternoon tea. The hotel is in walking distance of many of Edinburgh attractions and the rooms are clean enough, however I worry that the below...

The staff are friendly and helpful, they were happy to let us check in early and we waited in the lounge while they got the room ready. The ground floor is lovely but the room was a little disappointing. It needed a lick of paint, the mattress and pillows weren't that great and the whole room needed a good dust...

Easy to find hotel in Edingburgh pre booked car parking with hotel in advance is certainly advisable. Arrived at 2pm for checking in asked for our afternoon tea as part of the deal we had which wasn't a problem. Came down from our room but no space in the lounge so we're told to have it in the restaurant. When...

This hotel was perfectly located for our trip to Edinburgh. We didn't step foot in a car or bus for our time there. The castle is a short walk away and the airlink bus stops nearby. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is delicious, with a varied selection. Our room was beautiful, the only thing spoiling it being the...

Was a really nice hotel and was really different from most hotels in that it was really nicely decorated and individual. Staff were very helpful and I would definitely stay again. The honesty bar was also a good idea.

Great location, fabulous staff. It was within walking distance of old town, new town, and many little pubs and restaurants. Breakfast was also very good. Would return to this hotel when we come back to Edinburgh. We had two twin singles in our room and very spacious for a European room. Loved the lounge area too. Good tip - book...

We stayed for one night at the Brooks Hotel after attending an event at The Usher Hall. The location was ideal, really central and perfect walking distance for Usher Hall. Lots of bars, restraints and shops nearby too. The hotel itself is beautiful, the lounge is very cosy, comfortable and welcoming and we enjoyed taking advantage of this. The room...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
