Overlooking one of Edinburgh's prettiest private garden squares, Kimpton Charlotte Square consists of seven interconnecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town. Our beautifully formed bedrooms and suites are inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality.

Sitting proudly in the middle of the hotel is The Garden bar and restaurant, an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. Light and bright during the day for breakfast and lunch, transforming in to a fairy lit hideaway in the evening for cocktails and dinner. Sample our Twilight Tea, a unique take on the classic afternoon tea with a focus on savoury flavours from 12pm to 10pm every day.

BABA restaurant is a sumptuous, relaxed journey to the Levant, featuring mezze, charcoal dishes and small plates with bold Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours perfect for sharing. Cocktails take on the adventurous flavours to continue the journey until late in the BABA bar.

My experience of staying at the hotel was excellent and comfortable.
All thanks and appreciation to Mr. Simon.M., who did not hesitate to help me by providing me with alternative basic supplies due to the loss of my bag at the airport. He advised me of some shops for shopping and answered all my inquiries and followed them up.

Stayed here for two nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this lovely hotel. From the very efficient and welcoming check-in to the delicious breakfasts, everything was spot on. The standard rooms were very well equipped with bathrobes, generous quantities of shampoo/conditioner/body lotion (none of those tiny bottles that don’t even do one shower!) and velvety cotton bed linen. Rooms were super clean and attended to every day. The hotel is attractively furnished but, for us, it’s most attractive feature is its staff. Service throughout the hotel was very efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Covid protocols are followed very well and you are required to book a breakfast slot. The location is central to all tourist attractions and is an easy 15 minute stroll from Waverley station - take the Princes Street exit, turn left and Charlotte Square will be on your right. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights whilst in Edinburgh and couldn't have been happier with our stay!
We stayed in a superior room which was lovely, well decorated and spacious with comfy beds and a great bathroom. The ammenities provided in the room were excellent and the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner...) were luxurious and smelt lovely! The room and hotel were very clean at all times.
The service was excellent throughout, from the check in at the front desk to the concierge and room service, staff were very attentive and friendly.
The food at Baba and the room service full Scottish breakfast was excellent and good value for money.
The Garden/bar area is a really great relaxing space to have a drink in with lots of beautiful plants, and social hour from 5 to 6pm with free wine was a nice touch!
The cleanliness of the hotel and facilities is great and the COVID safety measures in place such as screens at the front desk, hand sanitizing stations and staff wearing masks made us feel safe during our stay.
The hotel itself is in beautiful Georgian townhouses in a great central location only a short walk from main attractions such as The Royal Mile, Princes street and the Castle.
We had a lovely and relaxing time at the Kimpton and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be staying there again when next in Edinburgh. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh!

We stayed here on a weekend visit to the capital city.We arrived before check in and were able to leave our luggage till our room was available. The room was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need, including iron hairdryer and tea making facilities There was an odd little coffee filter that fitted in the cup so you could only make 1 cup at a time, a cafetiere would have been preferable if there are 2 of you wanting a drink at the same time . The bathroom was well equipped and we liked that the shower gel etc were refillable bottles and not individual plastic ones. Sadly breakfast was a let down, we had our coffee and ordered hot food and waited and waited. After 30 minutes I enquired and it turned out our breakfast had gone to the wrong table, been rejected then back to the kitchen. It was brought back after allegedly being on the warming plate but was stone cold, so they made us a fresh one. It was good , but after waiting an hour we were very disappointed. I would point out that some of the rooms overlook the road with lots of bars on and can be noisy into the early hours so take earplugs just in case.

Room was stunning, almost had a boutique feel to it with little touches here and there. Not a trace of dust anywhere - spotless! Ordered room service to eat while we got ready and it arrived within about 15minutes and the chips and pizza were incredible.
The battered chips were the best we’d ever had. Used the gym and pool and these were of a very good quality for a hotel. But best of all was the amount of things you get included - coffee, teas, water, phone chargers, toiletries etc.
Only two negatives - £35 overnight parking, which I suppose for Edinburgh City Centre centre isn’t too bad. Bottle of Budweiser (Czech stuff) is £4 delivered to your room, or £5.25 if you go to bar yourself and order it.

The best thing about this hotel is it's location as it is perfect for all the main city attractions and is a short walk from Princess Street, where you can get a fantastic view of the Castle. The staff were all very nice and helpful, especially the reception team. However, I would not say that the hotel lives up to a 5* rating.

We booked a suite, which came with a small wardrobe that was mostly taken up with a kettle, iron and ironing board, leaving not much room for your clothes. We had a window that wouldn't open more than a couple of inches, which is not great if you are claustrophobic and or do not want the Air Con blowing in your face.

Breakfast was included in our room rate and it would have been really nice had we not had to send it back twice because it was delivered barely warm. To be fair the Manager noticed that we hadn't eaten it and offered a replacement, however we were pressed for time. He said he would make sure that it was better on the second morning, but sadly it wasn't and he forgot us, despite asking for our room number.

Basically, when things should have been hot, they were cold and when we ordered drinks and they should have been cold, they were warm.

On the plus side, the late afternoon wine is a really nice touch and popular with the guests.

Dear DPee2013, Thank you for your review. I'm clearly disappointed that we didn't meet your expectations in every area. The service related issues are totally within our control despite the challenges of operating at the moment and I sincerely apologise for the shortcomings you experienced. Windows in every hotel for insurance and health & safety reasons as I am sure you know are restricted in the amount they can open, I appreciate the inconvenience however this is something we must respect. Pleased to see you enjoyed Social Hour though and very pleased to note that you felt the team were all very nice and helpful especially Reception. On a return visit, which I hope you would reconsider we will do our absolute best to improve on the shortcomings and build on the friendly service you note. Thank you Kieran and Team

The stay started with a text message the morning of check in from Andrea, front office asking if we had any special requests the hotel could take care of. I informed her we would be staying for our honeymoon and had a very quick reply wishing us safe travels and they would sort something out for us.

On arrival we were welcomed in as IHG Spire members and taken through the covid protocols for the hotel. As a Spire elite we received an upgrade to a Junior Suite (Room 118) which was very nice. Be sure to mention Kimpton’s secret password at check in for a nice surprise!

The junior suite is a very spacious room with a very big bed, settee and two single chairs. The bathroom is again very spacious with an excellent shower and all toiletries you could need.

We had a lovely card and bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in the room wishing us a happy honeymoon and a great stay in Edinburgh which was a very nice touch. Thank you!

Breakfast is in the garden and is very well managed with hot drink & juices before a continental plate and then choice of hot plate too. The Scottish breakfast was fantastic. Service was quick and very good.

We made use of the swimming pool once (must be prebooked) and it was a perfect relaxing hour in the pool and sauna.

Every evening between 5 and 6 is social hour with very generous complimentary glasses of wine or soft drinks which is a very nice touch. Be sure to plan dinner around this, a nice way to start the evening. The hotel bar is very nice with plenty to choose from and knowledgable cocktail servers.

Overall a fantastic stay in Edinburgh at Kimpton Charlotte Square and would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the city. All major attractions are within walking distance and the airport is only a short bus journey away. Thank you to Andrea and the entire Kimpton team for making it a relaxing and enjoyable honeymoon.

Visited here for my fiancé’s birthday and they treated us to a lovely bottle of prosecco! As soon as we arrived the service was great, the valet took our car that we left outside and they took all our bags and coats to the room whilst we walked around Edinburgh.

We got to enjoy the complimentary wine hour which was unexpected and the breakfast buffet was great. Really nice food and good choices.

The hotel itself is decorated really nicely and the style is very classic! There were lots of little places to go and sit within the public areas of the hotel.

If we come back to Edinburgh we’ll definitely be staying here again as the location was really close to the castle and the main shops.

We had a great nights sleep but did get woken up by the bin collection which we heard even though we were 5 floors up! Apart from that no compliants and would really recommend!

Kimpton Charlotte Square is a superb hotel in an enviable location right in the heart of the new town with views of Charlotte Square and Edinburgh Castle. Very warm welcome from the team on arrival, in fact everybody we encountered from reception and concierge to the waiting staff at breakfast, were wonderful and really made our stay. The junior townhouse suite in the Georgian part of the hotel was a real delight, beautifully refurbished and with huge windows in the room and bathroom looking out over the square. I'd highly recommend upgrading to these rooms for a bit of a treat! In these difficult times, the hotel managed to deliver exceptional service, all with a smile - and we felt very reassured by the IHG Clean Promise, everything was spotless. We booked a slot for breakfast each morning and everything was table service with a lovely continental plate and Full Scottish Breakfast on offer. I stayed for a few days with my family and wouldn't hesitate to return, hopefully when Edinburgh is able to fully re-open and shine once again! Well done Kieran and team!

This hotel is a recent conversion from Principal, and I decided to give it a try for my return visit to Edinburgh.

Received an SMS from Andrea prior to my arrival, which was a nice touch not often seen in Europe. My early check-in and late check-out requests were granted no issues, which I was very happy about.

The room I stayed at (was it Superior or Deluxe? not very sure) was very nice, spacious enough with very classical gentle decor. The yoga mat was a good surprise.

Two gentlemen at the front desk (I forgot to take the names) were also very helpful and friendly.

This is probably the nicest hotel I've stayed at so far in the city.

Yes, but If I had little ones, I would wait until all the before-work executives finish doing their laps in the early morning. Also, it’s all one depth, so there’s no shallow end or play place.
