We stayed for 5 nights in a beautifully refurbished room. Levels of cleanliness were very high. The staff were pleasant, helpful and polite. When we needed a battery replaced in the remote control this was done quickly and efficiently. The welcome fruit plate was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel has everything a visitor to Edinburgh could wish for. The rooms are beautifull and big and the hotel is in a very central location. The service is excellent! I left my bag on the tram and the concierge made some calls, located the tram and even went off to wait for the tram and get my bag. Wonderfull...

Whilst the room renovations are stylish and contemporary, the wardrobe is smelly and includes coffee/ tea making equipment which is odd. The lack of a bath is a disappointment in this standard of hotel and the rain head shower is not good if you don't wish to wash your hair in every shower. The hand held shower option was not...

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Roxburghe from the 13 to the 16 March. The hotel is under renovation which we did not find out about until we had booked. On finding this out we were very disappointed and called the hotel. The receptionist reassured us that although building work is taking place that we would...

This was my first visit to Edinburgh and to this hotel. I have to say I was incredibly pleasantly surprised and loved it! There are on curing refurbishment (particularly on the exterior) but there was no noise. I would suggest staying in suite with a view (looks onto the castle, truly magical in the evenings) and has a terrace. Staff...

Despite staying here smack bang in the middle of the renovations, our room was excellent. Staff could not do enough for us, had the car parked and returned too. The room was light and airy, had all the facilities, and a walk in shower. Brilliant stay and would love to come back. Thank you

Booked in for a head, neck and shoulder massage with Jenna. Staff were very welcoming and professional and Jenna provided an excellent, thorough consultation before proceeding to ensure I got the most out the experience. It was lovely to relax fully with expert care after a busy week and all the tension I carry in my shoulders melted away. Their...

The hotel is still undergoing exterior renovations making it look almost like it is closed. Despite this the interior and the rooms are all in excellent order having been recently renovated. The room was spacious, very clean, and it had an interesting decor that mixes touches of modern and older styles. The bathroom has a good-sized walk in shower but...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.

The Roxburghe Hotel is currently undergoing a top-to-toe refurbishment. More than 100 of our bedrooms and suites have already been given a smart, new look - and it's these rooms that guests will stay in when they book accommodation. For the next couple of months, we'll be tackling many of the ground-floor spaces, including the hotel restaurant and bar. Whilst these are closed, we will serve a complimentary breakfast as room service or take-away from the lobby until the end of March 2017; dinner will be served in the lounge area and also available as room service. Travel in style and stay in The Roxburghe Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh city center. The hotel rewards its guests with an unrivaled location on historic Charlotte Square. This premier 4 star hotel has recently refurbished its meeting space, public areas and all 198 bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle. Ideally located between George Street, the stylish home of the cities top bars, restaurants and boutique shops and Rose Street with more traditional pubs and eateries. ... more   less
