So disappointed with my two night stay, partner had booked it as a surprise. We were surprised when we got there to building work going on and not being made aware of this. To find out there would be no breakfast as the kitchen was closed, however we were given a banana to make up for it 😒!!! To them...

Stayed in the Roxburghe for a long weekend. We had a double room on the top floor, the view from the corridor was stunning, of the castle and old town. We were slightly disappointed upon arrival to see that the building was covered in scaffolding, which hid such a beautiful building, although without doubt, this will be more than worth...

Our second visit which says a lot! The main disappointment was that the hotel is currently wrapped in scaffolding and some parts out of action. We were not aware of this when booking. However, if you see past that the hotel is still very good. The rooms are very good as are the concierge staff who took care of our...

Even though this hotel was in the middle of major renovations, we had a great stay, Staff pleasant and very helpful - newly done up bedroom which was very nice - comfortable bed (we slept for hours and hours) and great breakfast. Ideally situated a short walk to shopping, castle etc. We would stay here again.

This hotel is very comfortable and in the centre of Edinburgh close to all the main spots. The staff were very helpful especially helping us with the on site parking and despite the restaurant being closed they still offered up an in room complimentary cold breakfast which was delightful! The rooms are big enough and certainly what you would expect...

The service right from our welcome at the Reception desk until the day we checked out was faultless. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The decor is beautiful; it was quiet and very comfortable. The Roxburghe is situated in the perfect spot, and we were easily able to walk around Edinburgh.

From the moment we arrived and were received by Maria on reception the friendliness of all staff and the standard of customer care was excellent. The room we had on the 5th floor with a view of the castle was beautiful, recently refurbished to a very high standard and was incredibly quiet even with being so close to Rose Street....

I recently visited the Roxburgh Spa and Leisure during a visit to Edinburgh. I found the staff member Jason to be very helpful, professional and approachable during my visit. The facilities are slightly dated but as the hotel itself is undergoing a major refurbishment, these facilities will the updated too. The facilities are clean, tidy and very good. Other people...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roxburghe Hotel is currently undergoing a top-to-toe refurbishment. More than 100 of our bedrooms and suites have already been given a smart, new look - and it's these rooms that guests will stay in when they book accommodation. For the next couple of months, we'll be tackling many of the ground-floor spaces, including the hotel restaurant and bar. Whilst these are closed, we will serve a complimentary breakfast as room service or take-away from the lobby until the end of March 2017; dinner will be served in the lounge area and also available as room service. Travel in style and stay in The Roxburghe Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh city center. The hotel rewards its guests with an unrivaled location on historic Charlotte Square. This premier 4 star hotel has recently refurbished its meeting space, public areas and all 198 bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle. Ideally located between George Street, the stylish home of the cities top bars, restaurants and boutique shops and Rose Street with more traditional pubs and eateries. ... more   less
