My friends and me went to Edinburgh in three people and spent two nights there. The room is very huge and lively, also bathroom. The best thing is the staff and the owner, they're very nice! Totally recommend everyone to visit here.

I spent 6 nights staying in room 18 on the 3rd floor with a shared bathroom (the only disadvantage was that this room was next door to the bathroom and the shower is very noisy and I was woken if the other guest awoke and showered earlier than me.) The facilities were great e.g. tea making facilities, hairdryer, the free...

I stayed at the Edinburgh Central Guest House during my time abroad in 2012. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and found the accommodations clean and comfortable (including the shared bathrooms, which were spotless). The location was great - a casual stroll away from the Royal Mile. This central location allowed me to make the most of my 48 hours...

We choose this venue after reading many positive reviews online. The location was fantastic, as the name suggests it is central to everything and it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a continental style and the pastries were lovely. The biggest negative for me was the noise! Our first night was restricted to a few hours sleep. The noise...

Stayed in a single room which was small but clean, and had everything you needed. The bathroom was across the hall, and including the continental breakfast, was all in all very good value. However, I felt completely unwelcome from the outset. I chose this guesthouse over the many other guesthouses in Edinburgh because of the reviews mentioning friendly customer service...

Thank you for your review but such a shame that you felt that way. When checking in guests I do like to be here , so when you said you were arriving between 7 and 8, I popped out for shopping and was surprised to see you waiting at the door! when I arrived back in my car. As I...

Great location, lovely big en suite room and Morag was very friendly and helpful. Great way to kick off our trip to Scotland, a short walk to Princes Street and the castle. Clean, nice decor, beds were so comfy we missed breakfast, although that was also because we perhaps over indulged in the wonderful hospitality of this great city. It...

Had the chance to stay here for five nights while on holiday in Edinburgh -- could not have asked for a better guest house! The house was warm and inviting, the room with the ensuite bathroom was large and comfortable. The location is central to all the main tourist attractions and a short walk from Edinburgh Old Town and the...

Have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. First impressions were that the owner is very friendly. Morag met us, asked about our journey and helped carry luggage to our room. The room was a double on the top floor and had plenty of space. The room was clean and tidy. The decor is modern. Breakfast was included...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
