Delta Hotels Edinburgh garners mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its proximity to the airport and the breakfast spread but criticizing the additional fees for airport access. Some guests have applauded the spacious reception area, yet many find the hotel's charm dimmed by its outdated ambiance. While the cleanliness of the rooms is occasionally commended, a number of travelers have voiced concerns over maintenance and housekeeping frequency.
The hotel's value proposition is often questioned, as high prices and reduced amenities leave several guests feeling shortchanged. Issues with room temperature and the need for updates are also recurring themes in guest feedback.

Detailed Reviews
Was staying in this hotel for a charity event that was being hosted in it on Burns Night.
I have made driven past this hotel 100's of times over the years, and never really batted a eyelid when passing, and when trying to picture the location of this hotel in my head, it was a bit of a shock when pulling into the hotel and going "ohhhh there!" (in my head I actually imagined it being a lot closer to the airport than it really is).
Good location just off the city by-pass with access to train and tram station, as well as the Gyle Centre and main bus routes in and out the city.
As soon as you walk in you are greeted to a warm welcome by the staff who will have you checked in to your room in no time.
Being honest, once you get away from the lobby area, I found the hotel somewhat sterile, with it being something of a let down compared to the standard I usually associate with a Marriott Hotel.
Room was a good size, though could maybe use a roof light over the bed, as the lights on offer did not really do much to fill the room with light, and even with everything switched on, the room was still rather dark.
The reception they put on for the charity night was first class, and their bar was well stocked and ok prices (though found the price for a large glass of red wine rather eye watering, but beer prices, and especially local independent brewers, was actually really good).
Breakfast the next day was really good and plentiful.
Swimming facilities looked top class, but unfortunately we never got a chance to try them out.
All in all, met all our needs, but doubt I would look to stay in this part of the city again unless was attending an event within ear shot.

Stayed here for one night, when we checked in we were told our room was upgraded. When we went to the room it had not been cleaned.reception was very apologetic and we were allocated another room.the room was large with a separate sitting area. The bed was comfortable and toileteries were supplied. Tea coffee was also available. A safe and fridge was also there for your convenience. The bathroom was large and clean. We were also given a complementary bottle of wine.
We decided to have dinner there and two of my family joined us. The water was very good at checking dishes were gluten free. The food was very good but the service was not great, I ordered a desert and it took 15-20 for them to come and tell me they did not have it. The bill was very reasonable and I think it was discounted because of the service.

Took a suite and a family room for a couple of days in January.
Hotel has loads of free parking on site and is right on the Edinburgh bypass, 2 minutes from the end of the M8 and straight onto one of the main roads into the City Centre.
This Hotel is seriously dated in style. I'm talking 1990's level of dated. The furniture, fixtures, fittings, carpets etc are all old whether in room or most of the public areas. The windows in the wing we were staying were a rather quaint aluminium two pane sliding style that managed to create a whistling woosh when it was windy.
You should consider these things carefully when checking room rates here, I was staying in a quiet period and the cheap room rate deflected my attention from the surroundings....
I would have been gutted to have paid rack rate / nearly sold out type rates to stay here.
Bar area was decent and served a good range of beers and spirits at acceptable prices. Restaurant for dinner served the usual Marriott UK menu to a fair standard. Breakfast was a bit of a war zone with cold items not replaced quickly enough and lack of coffee machines leading to queues.
Alternate food options nearby are limited, the Gyle shopping Centre is very close by, but with some daytime, casual eating options. Whilst it may sound odd, there is a Grosvenor Casino right across the road. They do a decent bar and restaurant menu at prices lower than in the Hotel. For those unfamiliar with UK Casino's, you just need to be over 18 and have some photo ID, zero obligation to play.
We used the train to get into central Edinburgh, Gateway Station is about 7-8 minutes walk and there's about 4-5 trains per hour into town as well as regular (slower) trams. A heap of airport busses and coaches also pass the Hotel constantly, so its easy and cheap to get into town. A return train ticket was £3.90......
We found it way, way cheaper to stay in a hotel out of the centre of Edinburgh and didn't find it a big hassle getting into and out of the City. So, if decent deals are available at this hotel, I would recommend regardless of the rather dated appearance.

On 15 th February my husband & I were booked in for two nights at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel to attend a dear friend’s ninetieth birthday party celebration in the hotel. We were so delighted with all aspects of our stay. The party in a lovely function suite was flawlessly organised. The meal was first class.
As my husband had been ill for several months beforehand, I was very keen that our first trip away from home in the South of Scotland should be special. Our choice of a Junior Suite was absolutely ideal as it gave us a sitting room as well as a bedroom, making his siesta feasible & comfortable. All furnishings, bed comfort, bathroom, & housekeeping are of the highest order.
I would like to single out Alison, Assistant Front Office Manager, for her empathy to my husband’s health issues and the practical assistance she charmingly gave us,
When visiting our families in Edinburgh from our home in Dumfries in the future, we would unhesitatingly book in to the Marriott. Breakfast was one of the best buffets we have enjoyed in a hotel. Top marks to chefs & waiters who keep dishes refreshed, hot, and a delicious start to the day! Well done Edinburgh Marriott!

Checked in to room 31 on Friday. Dumped our luggage and went off into Edinburgh. The location of the hotel offers bus stops outside meaning a ticket to the city is only £1.70.
Our room was warm and cosy and we had a great sleep albeit we needed to be at the airport for 4am.
Lovely reception staff and super helpful when I cut my finger - my own fault - and they offered a great supply of plasters.

We arrived at the hotel on Friday afternoon after pre-booking into the hotel via the app for Marriott Bonvoy customers and were given our room keys for the 1 bedroom Suite on the 1st floor. The room was very spacious with an entry area and then into a lounge with armchair, settee small table with a large TV on a desk which held a small fridge, safe and kettle and tea/coffee milk etc with a coffee machine and even a large floor fan for the summer months with a door to the bathroom which included 2 sinks, separate shower and a bath with another hand-held shower attached it was very spacious, another door led into the bedroom which had a king size bed, desk/chair and space in the shelving underneath another large TV. We found the space very lovely especially with having two TVs and a separate area to watch TV.
We found that the duvet was too thin for the winter and so was given another and that the Reception staff should be more considerate to guests; our early morning call was not implemented, luckily enough my wife woke up at the time we had asked for but problems could have happened if we had not woken up. On another occasion our access to the vending machine would not accept our money but kept it instead but when I complained I had to plead to get my money back, no attempt was made to inform me that the machine had been repaired.
We especially liked the breakfasts which were very well organised with plenty of choices and the food was very good. We even tried the dinner but found that the menu was not very appetizing and the menu was exactly the same for both eating areas, if you like burgers you are in with a chance!!!!

On arrival, there is a large car park at the rear of the hotel, with ample spaces for guests. Our check-in at the hotel was swift and we were given directions to our room.
The same decor runs throughout the hotel, which is fine but maybe not to every guests liking, as it's a little dated. Our deluxe room was on the ground floor, it was spacious, with two queen sized beds, desk/chair, large flat screen tv, wardrobe, fridge, tea/coffee equipment, a safe and bathroom. A series of strategically located lamps provided the lighting for the room, no ceiling light. Sadly, with the room being on the ground, our view from the window was poor, only seeing another part of the hotel.
Disappointingly, the cleanliness of the room was poor, we found a plastic lid behind the unit that housed the fridge and tea/coffee equipment, several cobwebs on the ceiling and dust on the majority of the items in the room. We reported our findings and dissatisfaction to the receptionist on the same day we arrived but sadly nothing was done and the lid, cobwebs and dust were still present when we left the hotel, fours days later. We noticed there were dusty furniture throughout the hotel, as other guests had run their fingers through the dust. Additionally, the heating in the room was adequate but went cold from around 01:00.
The hotel is located close to the Gyle Centre and tram station, which is only a short walk. The Gyle centre has a good choice of shops and eateries for breakfast and lunch but not for dinner. The tram goes to the Edinburgh city centre, with numerous stops along the way. The cost of a family ticket was £9.50 for 2 adults, 3 children, hop on/off, all day.
The hotel offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in their restaurant and bar. The cost of meals and drinks are aligned with similar hotels. However, we chose to eat out in Edinburgh, as there is more choice of eateries at a reasonable cost. There are only a few eateries near the hotel.
In summary, we will look to stay at another hotel the next time we're visiting Edinburgh, as we expected better from this chain of hotels.

I spent 2 nights here last week; whilst the hotel is a little way out of the city centre, there's plenty of parking on site and its well located for the road network and airport, and its very easy to get into Edinburgh by bus from opposite the hotel, or by train/tram from Edinburgh Gateway a few minutes walk away.
My ground floor room was massive, with a large sitting area, plenty of desk space, a large wardrobe and very comfortable king-sized bed. The ensuite was clean and well maintained, with a powerful shower and plenty of toiletries provided.
The bar serves a great range of drinks, including some nice local beers, and offers a good food menu at reasonable prices. Breakfast was good too, with a great hot and cold selection.
The service all round was fantastic, the receptionists and bar staff were all very friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful.
All in all, a really enjoyable stay and I look forward to returning.

I stopped here for business purposes in Feb 2020.
The hotel itself is in a great location just outside Edi and close to Edi airport and the office locations by the Gyle.
It's an extremely busy hotel and I suspect they do a park and fly which means the car park was full and it was hard to find somewhere to park with people abandoning cars all over the place. Traffic in the area is also atrocious during rush hours so try and work around those times.
The rooms were a good size and had everything you need, they were showing some wear in places but not as bad as some hotels in the area and nothing so bad it makes you concerned about the cleanliness and upkeep.
The onsite bar and restaurant are reasonable, the breakfast is £17 and while nice, that is an extortionate price so make sure you book B & B which will likely be cheaper.

We popped up to Edinburgh just before the second lockdown started and booked into the Marriott out towards the airport. Just to record that from start to finish the service and approach was impeccable. All the usual nice touches when you have some Bonvoy status were retained and despite the complexities of social distancing breakfast was a really well ordered and structured, PROPER, breakfast to relax at a weekend.
Would really like to call out one staff member, Alison on reception, as exemplifying the Marriott brand. Aside from a slight concern that she is/was working 7 x 24 hours, nothing was a problem and she was ultra-considerate and helpful. Genuinely made the trip for us, thank you... you are a great credit to the hotel.
One last point: many properties - not just Marriott - are apparently throwing in free breakfasts and whilst it is commendable that thy are trying to gain business, they are not prepared with either the right facilities nor right number of staff to meet this demand. Some of these experiences in the last month have been, frankly, horrific.
Edinburgh Marriott hence was a beacon of professionalism. Thank you!
