I have just came back from a 2 night stay at Richmond place apartments and can honestly say we were very impressed! We booked a few months in advanced as there was a large group of us (14 females travelling from Sunderland for a hen party) there was a range of people from older aged backpackers, couples and university students....

This apartment/hotel occupies a floor (3rd) in a multi-storey student accommodation. Checking in and out was a breeze. The room itself, is typical of a student hostel, though complete with kitchenette, no washing machine/ dryer provided though. Location is perfect. Housekeeping is only a few days once. Bad point is, the room is cold..even with the heater on full blast.

We stayed for a weekend away to visit some friends and we were really impressed with high standard and cleanliness of these apartments! Loads of space (the bedroom is on another level) everything you need in the kitchen, glasses, pans, kettle, toaster and even weighing scales! Very comfy bed, sofa, free view TV and dining area! The reception staff were...

Stayed in superior studio, in what is a student building. I found location close enough to royal mile, main bus routes and mac tours bus stop but some might be put off by area (apartment above poundland and lidl) as very student area, reception guys very helpful, lift (bit slow) up, but then 8 steps down to level of these...

This is the second time I have stayed in these apartments, they are very clean and fresh and have everything you would need for a night or even a weeks stay, also they are close enough to the city centre, pubs, restaurants and theatres, would recommend these apartments to anyone. Love them.

We came up from Harrogate for a long weekend. When we arrived, we were able to check in early. This was great as we may have overpacked slightly. Apartment was nice, not as big as expected but with only 2 of us it was plenty. The apartment was well equipped and the bed was so nice we didnt want to...

We booked up for these apartments for Valentines Day as all hotels were very expensive and I am so glad we did, well worth the £74 we paid for the night! They were very easy to find, just approx 8 minutes from the Royal Mile which was handy for what we had planned for the day. The staff were super...

Stayed one night in these apartments when visiting for The Calcutta Cup. The place was clean and functional and perfectly adequate as a place to get your head down for the night. The bed was very comfortable although one side of it was up against a wall so not the best of access for both people!! The kitchen was well...

My wife and I stayed in these apartments in December. Everything would have been correct (location, equipment) but unfortunately our stay was a hell because of the cold in the room. The heating did not work properly and the staff did nothing to solve this problem. My wife and I had to sleep with fleeces. It was a nightmare. Avoid...

I've stayed in Citéa apartment hotels in France, and this Edinburgh hotel follows that theme of moderately priced self-catering city accommodation. For travellers on a budget, this option will reduce costs - great for longer stays. The hotel is run by Edinburgh University and is situated in a busy part of Edinburgh's beautiful Old Town popular with students and young...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
