Stayed here for three nights over New Year. Originally booked at another Fountain Court property but 'upgraded' to these due to some maintenance issues at the other location. We lucked out as both the location and standard at Young Street were excellent. A short stroll to the brilliant New Years madness and the rest of the city centre on the...

The apartment was great, with everything you could need for a stay in Edinburgh. The location is very good, with good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I found the room very big and the bed was comfortable. The check in process was fast and efficient, and the staff were excellent. The only negative I have about the place is the...

A little hard to find if you are driving, but that is the only negative to this property. Rooms are lovely staff are great and it was quite, warm and welcoming. The beds are really comfy and the kitchen is great.

We stayed for a couple of nights in late December, room was spotless and very well appointed, they are just like having your own apartment except while you are out someone comes and cleans and tidys for you! We opted for the breakfast for 1 day and it was more than adequate for what we required. The on site parking...

Very good overall but slight lack of storage for clothes. Kitchen was well equipped but lacked the litte extras like a roll of paper kitchen towels and some paper napkins A shower which could be unhooked for hair washing would be a boon and there was no non slip mat in the bath beneath the shower ( to be fair...

A very well equiped appartment with everything you need (you could easily live full time in them).Maids even cleaned & put back used crockery.During 3rd night of our stay the fire alarm sounded & flashed in our bedroom @4.45am.this was not a false alarm as first floor was filled with smoke (somebody had burnt toast quite badly - at 4.45...

A three week stay will allow you to see the best and worst of most places. I had a few issues, but all were resolved quickly without fuss. Rooms are well furnished and the daily clean was exceptional. I was doing my own cooking and they cleared up behind me with a smile! It's not home from home, but it...

First time we've stayed in an apartment like this, instead of a hotel, and would definitely do it again based on this experience. The apartment was perfectly sized for 2 people, well appointed with everything we needed (hairdryer, iron, cafetiere, dishwasher etc), was very clean and well maintained. Quiet location in New Town. Next door to the excellent Oxford Bar,...

I stayed in the appartments for 5 days and it was really comfortable. Especially when you have to stay for a longer period of time in one city, I prefer an appartment above staying in a hotel. Staff was very helpfull. Appartment cleaned every day. For 10 pounds extra you can get a day ticket for the fitness @virgin. Excellent...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
