We spent a 5 days here at beginning of July, what a lovely hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful, the staff on reception were always up for a chat. The rooms are nice we were given an accessible room which are a bit bigger than standard, probably due to we were staying all week. The hotel is central to the shopping center just behind the Edinburgh street food place is just along the street. The Tram from the airport stops 2 min walk away and on the flat so no dragging the suitcase up hill to hotel. Princess Street is about 5- 10 mins away. Basically this hotel is great for sightseeing in Edinburgh. Will be back one day.

Lovely hotel, within walking distance of the train station (we did it with two children, cases etc., within about 10-15 minutes), and it is just up from the Playhouse Theatre so an ideal base for whatever you need. My IHG loyalty was recognised on check-in, and the reception staff were more than helpful, taking our bags although we arrived hours before check in, and then organising them to be in our room when we arrived back after some sightseeing. Our room was a lovely large family room (#112) and was a great size for 2 adults and 2 children. The kids especially appreciated the complimentary teacakes, caramel wafers and Irn Bru! It is however the staff which make this hotel stand out, they are all wonderful - helpful & personable - I didn't catch all their names (sorry!) but would like to name check the lovely Chelsea on reception, and also Dougie who was so patient and kind to my grandchildren making them a hot chocolate "nightcap" as we had a cheeky gin on our way to bed! Breakfast was lovely with excellent hot and cold choices, and set us up for the days walking! I couldn't really have asked for a much better experience! Thank you!

This hotel was one of the best we stayed in during our 3 week UK/Ireland vacation. We stayed two separate times- once for 3 nights and once for one night (after a 3 day tour). We were able to store a couple large luggage items that we couldn't take on our tour. The breakfast was outstanding if you book within the room rate. If not, it can be a bit expensive to pay separately. The room itself (premium king) was very nice as it included AC as well as a fridge with included items like soft drinks and snacks. The location near the bus station was excellent for our needs since we took several bus tours from there. It is also close to St James Quarter where we could find pretty much any type of restaurant we wanted. About the only negative is it does have stairs leading up to the entrance, which might make it difficult for wheelchair guests.

What a lovely boutique hotel just a couple blocks walk from the heart of Edinburgh. The hotel is built into an 18th century town house as part of "new town" Edinburgh - which is ironic because the building is still 2+ hundred years old. Despite the age of the building our room was quirky and fun with vaulted ceilings and more than enough room. I loved the towel warmer/hanger and wish all hotels in North America had those - at least in the winter. The staff were very businesslike (not everyone was trying to be your best friend) but very helpful anytime we asked. We loved the breakfast every morning - especially the fresh fruit/cheeses/pastries although the mains - including eggs benedict - were awesome too. Even the view from the window during breakfast was amazing with a great old church to gaze at. We did utilize the hop-on/hop-off bus on our trip and it was wonderful that one of the stops was just across the road from the hotel...so we could just hop off at the end of a tour and it was a short walk to the front door. We truly enjoyed being able to start our day here and end it here after loads of sightseeing...and it is too bad we were only in two for 3 or 4 days. I guess we will just have to come back to the city, and to this hotel.

Pros: The hotel is in a very good location, very close to the bus station, and you can walk to popular attractions such as Calton Hill. The room is very beautiful and clean, and it is also cleaned very well. It has a refrigerator and a kettle, and bottled water is provided. , but there are not many choices of TV programs. The brewed food and snacks provided are very delicious. There is a gym in the hotel that you can use. If you want to store your luggage after checking out, the service staff will give you a number plate corresponding to the luggage information. It is relatively easy. Safety.
Disadvantages: The appearance of the hotel and the restaurant feel are under renovation. No password is required to log in to the WIFI. Relatively speaking, the security is worrying. There is an episode: Because I want to participate in the Highland Tour, before booking the room, I sent an email in advance to ask if I can do it. The luggage was stored for three days after check-out. The email replied: Yes. This is not a problem. On the day of CHECK IN, I also asked again about the luggage storage after check-out. The reply was also: Sure!, but it must be stored on the day of check-out. When I checked in with my luggage, I informed the service staff that the luggage would be stored for three days. The service staff misunderstood that we would check in again when we came back and said that there were no rooms. After learning that we did not want to check in again, they immediately told us that they could not store our luggage. I felt very Angry, I immediately expressed that I had inquired and agreed by email in advance, and the service staff changed their words and said that they could leave it. This attitude made me feel very uncomfortable.

5* stay in this stunning hotel with a delicious breakfast and the dreamiest pillows you could want. I was on 3rd floor and my room was a real wow moment. Everything you could need to relax, stretch out and pamper. Huge tv, generous supply of teas and coffee. No need to pack your shampoo and toiletries as there’s everything you need for your shower and slip on the cosy robe and slippers. Really nice to have a proper iron and ironing board to freshen your wardrobe and plenty of space at the dresser. USB ports, loads of sockets and a mini fridge make everything just so easy. The decor is stunning with a rich Scottish and Edinburgh touch everywhere so you never forget you’re in the historic city. Only a 10 mins downhill walk from the train station and 2 mins from the tram stop for cheap and hassle free journey to the airport or shore. The staff are wonderful, top tier!. Reception team are so friendly and at breakfast, the hospitality team even offered to open the bar so I could take a photo. Breakfast is continental, cereals or freshly made cooked breakfast with so many options and portions are incredibly generous to set you up for the day. Highly recommend the porridge. If you want to feel special or treat someone, go to Edinburgh and stay here.

Just had a lovely stay at this hotel. Check in was quick and easy, with friendly informative staff. Rooms are small but perfectly formed with all the amenities you need and a great shower. Mini fridge in each room restocked daily with a selection of Scottish items (iron-bru, caramel bars and water). Would recommend being on a high floor or at the back as there the trams turn around right outside the front door and there is the occasional beep or ring of the bell.
Breakfast is one of the best we have had when away for weekend breaks. Loads of choice of self service continental and cold breakfast items with options to have things cooked to order from a full Scottish breakfast (large but delicious) to waffles or pancakes. Plenty of choice and you don’t leave the breakfast room hungry (ever!!)
Hotel is in a great location being 2 mins from the shopping centre, 5 mins to Waverly train station or 10 mins from old town/the royal mile.
When in Rome…. We tried whisky tasting at Jeffrey St Whisky and Tobacco. I would highly recommend, the host was very knowledgeable, obviously LOVES his whisky and it seemed like one of the best value ones around (less of a tourist trap than most). You get to try 5 different varieties and there are numerous groups of tastings to pick from. All in all a great visit to Edinburgh made better by this hotel and their fantastic staff.

The hotel is not very clearly marked and does not match the image on the website. We walked past a few times before there wasn’t any clear indication of it being Hotel Indigo. I did raise this at check in but the staff were clearly not interested. Check in was rushed so I didn’t get to raise additional needs, ie vibrating pillow or assistance needed in the event of an emergency. If your a wheelchair user access is limited and I’d say quite narrow (I’m not a wheelchair user). One important thing to point out is there is no restaurant in this hotel, a real disappointment to us. However, there is a breakfast room. Breakfast was quite nice but a warning to those who don’t like spice, the full Edinburgh breakfast is rather spicy (sausage, haggis, black pudding). The lift seems quite old and rickety but worked. While we were staying (beginning of the week) there was no person dedicated to just the bar which meant going to and from reception to order drinks. Some staff had little customer staff, others went out of their way. A member of the cleaning staff had a very bad personal hygiene problem, which made journeys in the lift quite unpleasant. The room was quite big, though noise from outside was an issue for us (it is on a main road). There was complimentary drinks and biscuits. I was very excited to see face cloths in the bathroom because this does not seem to be a provided item anymore. The hotel is very close to the train station, about 15 mins at a slow pace.

Went to wrong hotel first there is one on princess street the staff were quick to direct us to the sister hotel around the corner even providing a map and easy directions.
Room not ready on arrival but staff took our bags and there was complimentary treats and drinks available during check in what was a nice touch whiskey tea cakes and water . QR code to scan and hotel would send a message when room was ready a other nice touch.
On return to hotel bags we’re in room and there was a complimentary fridge juice water snacks tea coffee hot chocolate a other nice touch.
The room was of a good size a giraffe themed running right thro wall paper lights ect a area for small person including a wigwam a bed a toy giraffe there was a complimentary soft toy giraffe through in which made someone’s day .
Breakfast was included was very nice
Staff were great with small person friendly and interactive
The zoo experience was good
Only criticism would be the noise level from outside the trams and traffic ect but this out with the hotels control and never affected our sleeping.
Really enjoyed the experience and wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future definitely one of the best stays we have had in Edinburgh

Beware: You cannot stop outside the hotel, you have to park in St James Place carpark, around the rear of the property up a steep hill about 5 mins walk. If you have large pieces of luggage or are disabled this is not the place for you. Even with the discount the hotel gives for the carpark it was ÂŁ15 per 24hours. There was nothing on the IHG website to inform you about any of this. We mentioned this to reception who said that's the way it is!
Our welcome at check in was cold and unfriendly. As IHG platinum we know the product well and this was below standard. The room was standard and very small, however it had a nice view, comfortable bed and decent shower. I also liked the free minibar with soft drinks and chocolate.
Housekeeping was poor. On second day bins not emptied, no toilet rolls left and room very dusty. Complained at reception (no phone in room to call). They said housekeeping had gone home and one of them would have to do it. It almost sounded as though they wanted me to take the hoover up and do the clean.
Breakfast was good with a varied selection.
For me I felt as though I was staying in a budget hotel, whereas the nightly rate is extortionate for the product offered.
I would not stay here again.

Greetings docajenk, I am sorry that you have chosen to write a negative review, despite also being in communication with my Operations Manager Carla, who has already dealt with the situation. Hopefully you have managed to find the information on the car park, which is indeed on our website. With regards to the Housekeeping, as you had Greener Stay card on your door, we are unable to enter your room - and yes, it is true that our housekeepers would not be on site after a certain time, although I am sure that the reception team did offer you to have any items replenished. I am delighted to hear that you also enjoyed breakfast on the other hand, as the majority of people who leave us reviews do also. Thanks again for your time. Regards, Chris Logan

I wouldn't say it was bad, just we felt there must be better rooms available than the room we were allocated. Having discussed it with staff, we were offered rooms which were much worse than ours. We we disappointed having advised in advance we would like a room facing York Place. Staff were excellent. Follow up complaints went unanswered until I complained again. We could stay in that hotel again if we could stay in a room that does get excellent reviews.
There are more places to choose from in the Edinburgh area.
