This is a student hostel, so is not flash. It does have a kitchen though, so you don't have to buy meals all the time. The main lift didn't work for 3 of 4 days, necessitating a long walk to the other one. WiFi was free. Quite handy to town - we walked everywhere, and felt safe doing so.

great location, close to a parade of shops and main high street, lovely staff, it did however get too hot in the room with no air conditioning, great for a week or a few days, staff are very helpful as the time to check out is 11AM and our flight was at 3PM they held our luggage for a couple...

Stayed at the hotel for the fringe festival. Great location, about 5 minute walk from Haymarket train station. I stayed in a studio, it had everything you may need, the only drawback for me was the lack of car park but you can park in the street or the nearby Edinburgh Quay car park which is fairly cheap at the...

This is a very reasonable place , well situated near the center and some fab bars and restaurants nearby. Staff are excellent and the accommodation is good quality, modern and very clean. I will be using this again in the near future and would highly recommend it.

Good value (especially considering inflated prices during the festival) basic accommodation, clean, tidy with all you need for an overnight stay. We had a studio and found the kitchenette very useful as there is no catering in the hotel (although lots of supermarkets and cafes nearby). Booked online - very easy, checked in just before 3pm, again easy with friendly...

Dear Sir/Madame, I'm disappointed to see that you have been so underwhelmed on this occasion. Far from the service that we expect to offer. We aim to offer an affordable option in central Edinburgh during the peak summer period. We find that our prices are extremely compelling and competitive. Evident that we have failed on this occasion and we shall...

We were booked in for two nights, checked out the following morning due to no sleep, the worst cheapest bed ever well past its youth, an en suite that smelt of drains and sewage, and constant noise from traffic and the built in fridge. Free wifi is offered only if you click the disclaimer box allowing them to share with...

The beds are small but perfectly clean and great value. I have no complaints. Staff were friendly and helpful. Whilst the room is small you know that at time of booking. No issues at all with cleanliness.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
