I booked the hotel as it said it was a short 15 minute walk from the train station however this is not true if you are lugging suitcases behind you. It was very difficult to walk there with the bags as it's very hilly in the city and took us over 25 mins to get there. The hotel is like...

Management response:

Dear Julia M. Thank you for your recent feedback following your arrival to the hotel. It is deeply regrettable that you did not like the décor of the rooms, however we do find that the style of our rooms is appealing to guests as it is considered refreshing and modern. The walk from the train station to the hotel is...

Nice room- spacious with a living room area and kitchen. Sink outside of bathroom but shower very good. Within walking distance of Waverley station (although up a steep hill or a lot of steps!) Breakfast was good, varied selection of hot and cold food and option to take away, and close to few shops and coffee places. There is building...

The hotel offers late check-ins, and free wifi (always a plus these days). The two single bed room is very comfortable and looks quite nice. The bathroom is quite small (in proportion with the big room), but remains pleasant. The breakfast offers all the basic continental breakfast options, just what you need. The Residence Inn is beautifully located - right...

A very comfortable hotel and in a great location. The rooms a suites that include an impressive kitchenette facility. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are more than adequate. The location is only a short (8 min) walk to the Royal Mile and easy access to a number of good pubs and restaurants.

This is a modern looking hotel, the rooms are large and well maintained, reasonably priced and good service, what more can you ask for, oh yes well situated for doing a spot of tourism, not that I got much of that.

Just a fantastic hotel, close to everything. Easy walk to the castle and the bus stop nearby gets you wherever you want to go. The rooms are tastefully done in contemporary decor. Rooms are very large , especially for Europe. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is included and is stocked with options for everyone. Close to many exceptional...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights last week. The hotels location is brilliant, very central, just a short walk to local shops, bars castle/royal mile. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a surprise trip to Edinburgh for my wife's birthday. We have nothing but positive feedback for this hotel and staff. Check in was fast, staff were helpful and kept our bags for us to go out and enjoy the day as check in time was 4pm but they told us they...

Very comfortable room with kitchen facilities. Slightly out of city centre but set in a pedestrian area so no traffic noise. Breakfast very good but eating area a little cramped. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return to this hotel.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
