This is easily one of the best hotel stays we have had in recent years. Stayed 1 night with my husband and 2 children (aged 12 & 7) in the captains suite.
The room it’s self is a mezzanine over 2 floors which gave us plenty of room with adults upstairs and kids downstairs with both areas having a separate TV. The room facilities including double pay mini bar and kitchenette are great and includes additional glasses, plates and cutlery if needed. We paid an additional £25 for the shower beer fridge to be full on arrival which is a fun novelty and worth doing.
The room blinds are all electric which was a nice feature. The extras in the room including record player and guitar was a lovely touch.
We ate lunch in the bar and ordered room service for dinner. The food was incredible! Perfect for the style of the hotel and bar. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional and nothing was too much trouble.
There is an atrium area in the centre of the hotel that has free coffee, sweets and board games to play which we made use of.
Location wise, perfect for Edinburgh Waverley train station and very close to Edinburgh Castle and surrounding shops.
The hotel had a relaxing vibe to it which we just loved. A fantastic stay! We will recommend to everyone and return in the future.

I’m a fan of BrewDog pubs but this is my first visit to one of their hotels. Wow.

Reception is in the bar and the rooms are above, around a large guest lounge (more in that in a minute). The rooms must be super noise insulated as the silence in here is deafening.

We are in a Punk Suite that has its own kitchen and siting area downstairs with double height ceiling up to the bedroom upstairs. The sitting room has a large TV, record player with records, guitar and beer books. Kitchen has a fridge (with BrewDog stuff in it and fresh milk), 2 hob induction, beer fridge, dishwasher, combo microwave oven. And a beer tap. Along with bar snacks and usual tea and coffee.

Bed was very comfortable and another TV at the end of the bed. A desk in that area makes it suitable for business travellers. Nice shower room too, complete with another beer fridge!

Was dark in the room at night but when you get up to go to the loo (downstairs) floor level LED lights came on automatically to help guide the way.

Everything is very sustainably sourced and electricity is wind renewable sourced.

There is a large guest lounge with plenty of seats and sofas, plus tables to work. Complete with free coffee machine and a free pick and mix selection, plus games and books. Great place to bring your beer away from the busy pub.

Breakfast/Brunch is from 7:30 to 3pm, catering nicely to those that have partied hard and another nice touch is that we can check out and come back anytime before 3 to get it!

Not only is this place very stylistically cool, it’s also got a great deal of substance to go with it.

We stayed here after a long cycle ride. I was able to leave my bike in the room. Refreshingly different. We loved the design of the room. We were in “Tony Hopoloney”. The room was on the Mezzanine level. Very comfy bed. The room was like an apartment - there was a fridge, microwave and a hob so you could cook your own meal if you wanted to. A guitar was on the wall and a turntable with vinyls although the selection wasn’t to my taste! Breakfast/brunch is available until 3pm which is great if you don’t like eating early. A particularly nice touch is they have Brompton bikes that you can borrow.

A few things to note:
Don’t get caught out by the FREE BEER sign in the shower room. It isn’t! Their signage needs to be clearer as if us misleading.

No mirror in the bedroom so you can’t sit down to dry your hair. I understand from another review they are waiting for these but surely some interim mirrors could have been provided?

We came back at 3:30pm and our room hadn’t been cleaned. We were told housekeeping were there until 5pm. I think we’d been forgotten as we went out for a walk and it had been tidied up but not properly. I think one of the bar team did it!

I didn’t like all the price labels on everything. I get they want to sell their merchandise but a laminated price list is more than adequate. The price label irritated my neck when wearing the bathrobe.

It’s all very high tech with remote controlled blinds, wireless charging etc. For the less techie I think a demo or an instruction sheet would be welcome.

Staff were lovely.

Hiya Lesley, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave yoru review! So glad you enjoyed your well earned stay after your long cycle and all the fun in-room touches! Thanks for all the feedback too, we will be sure to take this on board! If you read the free beer sign it does explain the tokens for towels system, so that you can enjoy a beer and save the planet! You'll also be glad to know the mirrors in rooms have now arrived so it's much easier to dry your hair now! And don't forget you can always remove the price tags while you use items, they're just tied on, so easily removable. We hope you will come and stay with us again soon! Cheers, DogHouse Team

The Brewdog Doghouse is by far one of the best relaxed hotels I’ve stayed in.

The most impressive element is that they really have thought about everything anyone could want when staying here. Firstly you can access unlimited decent coffee from the atrium, as well as unlimited pic n mix and a lovely area to relax, chat, read, work or just hang out with friends.

Secondly, the rooms are really well equipped for a decent stay, with a mini kitchen, decent tvs (upstairs and downstairs - yes, the rooms are split level which is cool!) and tech points that work. No USB charging issues and mega fast 5G.

The decor of the hotel is industrial, vibrant and creative - exactly as you’d expect from the Brewdog brand but the sustainability element runs through the hotel and adds a really nice touch. Rewarding us with free beer for reusing our towels, providing sanitary products for girls (in a gender neutral toilet I might add!) with extra boxes donated to charity (nice to see hotels actioning the campaigns you read about in the media) and lots of recycled elements throughout the hotel.

The beds are comfortable, the food is good, the coffee is outstanding and the beer is exceptional. We’re in our late 30s and staying here with my parents who are equally impressed but it would also be a great place to come with mates or stay for work.

The only downside is that it’s dog friendly and I didn’t see any dogs, because I really love dogs.

Well done Brewdog! I will DEFINITELY be back 👌🏻

Hiya! Wow! What an amazing review! Thank you so much for taking the time, we really appreciate it! So glad you enjoyed all the little details and treats we've included for our guests and had such an amazing stay. Sorry there were no dogs during your stay. Our staff share in the disappointment any time there is a lack of furry friends though, thankfully, it is a rarity round here :) Look forward to welcoming you back. All the best DogHouse Team

We stayed over during a Sunday bank holiday. Checked in at 3pm, where we (pup included)were greeted by the friendly staff. We were given a complimentary drink and given the key to our room promptly.

We stayed in the ‘Barnard Castle Eye Test’ suite. We upgraded for the shower beers, which did not disappoint. Our room was stunningly put together, with every amenity you would need. The kitchen area, bathroom and bedroom were all stylishly done and immaculately presented. Electric blinds, curtains and wireless phone charging by the bed were nice little additions.

We had dinner and breakfast there and all food was delicious! The beer selection as expected was also really good, with a number of house specials really hitting the spot.

Staff service throughout was fantastic and made us and the pup feel extremely welcome.

The communal terrace and living area (with complimentary pix and mix) meant we actually felt like we should just stay in, rather than venture out!

All in all…….. *****. Will def be back!

What a cool place to stay! Great location, quiet but a short walk to almost everything.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, fantastic brunch this morning before we left. Comfortable bed, great shower and towels, kitchen area a bonus with a comfy sofa.
We had to request housekeeping which did come promptly after we sent a text and we thought the merchandise a bit pricey, but obviously you don’t have to buy.
We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend.

Stayed for our anniversary. Great communication beforehand and given a complimentary suite upgrade which was much appreciated. We had booked a package including dinner and breakfast and it was an added bonus to have breakfast in the room at no extra charge. Loved the theming and lots of cute little touches like free drinks on arrival, free pic and mix and coffee in the lounge. Would have liked to try the rooftop bar and fire pits but weather was not great. Would definitely return - thanks for a lovely stay. One slight niggle - lights are very hard to work out and kept randomly going off - would have liked a guide or labelling.

We stayed for a weekend here and it didn’t disappoint! The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, and the different hotel amenities make it super cool. There’s so many little touches in the room, including wireless charging for devices, a guitar, and fortune cookies on the pillows! They have a number to WhatsApp if you need anything during your stay, which is really simple and efficient. You have access to a decent coffee machine, pick n mix, water and board games on the middle level which are all nice touches.
There are two bar areas and the terrace is lovely when the sun is shining. The breakfast menu caters for everyone, and the food was lovely.
It’s casual but brilliant, and the room was clean. There was a kitchenette area with sink, fridge, dishwasher etc so if you were staying a while longer than a few nights then those amenities would be useful for sure.

Would definitely stay here again and maybe bring the dog who would be royally welcomed next time!

We stay in Edinburgh a lot usually in the New Town Tiger Lily , Glass House , The Balmoral etc so we decided to give the Brewdog a go , we didn’t receive a txt that morning on arrival which you are meant too, we had booked brunch which was lovely so we were there from around 1.15 after brunch we thought we would ask to see if our room was ready nope they kept us right to 3pm before we could check in which I thought was not good customer service, We were seated near the door for brunch which was very cold so had to sit with our jackets on for nearly the two hour wait to check in . The bar staff the guy can’t remember his name was really nice he served our food and drinks .
When we got to our room it was nice a few things required attention dust on the chairs and footstool the soap dispenser broken in the bathroom . The house costs needed renewed one of them looked as though it had been shrunk so if u were bigger than a size 8 tough . There are no wardrobes to hang your clothes . There is no great mirror with a light to apply makeup . Hairdryer not PAT tested so was reluctant to use this.
Bought the beer shower pack didn’t use it so will take it home .
Got breakfast to go for this morning which I’m sure will be pleasant would we return Mm no I don’t think so .

I didn't know Brewdog did hotels until we went to see The Who at Edinburgh castle. Location is excellent - literally 5 mins from Waverley station, they've got the usual fantastic selection of beers and enthusiastic staff you expect from Brewdog, but it's the extremely well thought out extras that put the Doghouse in a different class. We'd previously stayed next door in the 'Hub' annex of a well known hotel brand which left us feeling conned and ripped off. No kettle or bin in the room, one bath towel and one usb port between 2 and poor, poor food and drink selection . If that was minimalist, the Doghouse is Maximum joy, comfort and a feast for your body and soul. A turntable and LPs, an actual, well tuned Guitar, snacks and beer and all IN YOUR OWN 2 STOREY ROOM! Add a huge, beautiful and well stocked, residents's lounge area with a glass ceiling Pick'n'mix and board games and it's heaven in a hotel. The outside terrace and truly amazing food take the Doghouse to a different level. I cannot believe we previously paid more for the substandard, empty box next door. Can't wait for an excuse to go back! Finally a special shout out to Scott who went above and beyond to look after us. You are a credit to your organisation Sir.👍👏
