Gifford House is a traditional B&B which is a reasonable distance out from the centre of Edinburgh. It would be possible to walk into town fairly easily, but we usually got one of the apparently frequent buses in and out which only takes around 15 mins. Our room was a family room - although there were only 2 of us.... More

Came here because we have a son at this wonderful university city . Just a wonderful place from when you walk through the door . Very friendly sweets and fresh fruit on offer , lovely owners. Fantastic large bedrooms that are spotlessly clean , you feel like you are the only guest that's slept there. Breakfast is large and plenty... More

We stayed at the Gifford Bed and Breakfast in September, 2016. It was a wonderful experience. David and Margaret were very accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed. We were assigned a beautiful and very clean room. The breakfast was great. I highly recommend the Gifford B&B.

This beautiful family run accommodation is now our first choice when visiting Edinburgh. The huge well decorated comfortable rooms with en suite facilities are relaxing after a city walkabout in Edinburgh fringe week. Margaret and David are very friendly and are always willing to help you where they can, and always welcome you to Gifford house with a smile. The... More

Gifford House is convenient to Holyrood Park with a view of Arthur's Seat out the back windows, and there are several good restaurants a few blocks away. Breakfasts have several good choices and there is always fresh fruit too. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and provided very good advice. We took taxis and Uber to get to the... More

During our trip to Scotland this year we again went to Edinburgh and it was just natural that we should stay at Gifford House again. And it surely was no disappointment! As expected we enjoyed the Gifford family's warmth and hospitality. We actually can't say more than we have not already done in our previous review, except that this is... More

Stayed here over weekend from Friday 22nd July until Sun 24th July. Room was ready as we arrived at 1pm. Welcomed and shown to the rooms which were lovely and spacious. Beautiful old building with character. Hosts were fantastic. They booked taxis for us and recommended The Dome, a must on George Street. Lovely building and atmosphere with decent priced... More

Enjoyed our overnight stay here. Lovely room and bed. Walking distance Edinburgh Castle to Gifford House( approx 30 minutes) We caught a cab up and walked back. Great hosts and delicious breakfast. No off street parking but some parking nearby. Good evening meal at the local pub.

Excellent accommodation with loads of character and super hosts in David and Margaret. Enjoyed the lighter breakfast choice on the menu. The b&b was very convenient for my business trip venue. Good also for a bus as required. A real treat and merits 5 stars.
