Location good 12 min walk to Princess Street. Car Parking. Hotel ok, do not pay over the odds though. Basic rooms but en-suite, clean, warm and good beds. Small public areas. reception, bar and restaurant all two small for size of hotel, some staff quite abrupt but not as far as being rude.

As above really. Older Chap with darkened glasses punched the wall and swore after we returned with the wrong key to our room . Room was basic , a little dusty on the edges. Heater inadequate for size of room

Great value, clean rooms. Having frequented this hotel a few times a month over the last year. My previous visits has been most enjoyable. Unfortunately my last visit has made me decide to no longer use this hotel. As I walked in to the reception at 11pm. There stood an white haired elderly man on the far right staring at... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for the weekend as it was my birthday weekend away. We arrived and got a nice greeting from the reception. A good deal on the breakfast at a lower price than we would have paid on the day. When actually going to have the breakfast, it was good the first day but... More

Stayed here as a cheap deal so can't really complain as it does what it says on the tin. Could do with a lick of paint as it's pretty grubby. Our bathroom was very mouldy probably due to no ventilation. Staff were helpful and a cab was only the push of a button away.

I booked to stay here on the 19th of November for 1 night. It was awful! When I arrived I went to reception to be sneered at that check in didn't open until 3pm, I told them I had pre arranged and paid for an early check in. After 10 minutes of waiting for them to find my reservation they... More

5 of us stayed here during a weekend in Edinburgh. It's alright, the beds are firm but comfy and our room had obviously been cleaned. However there are a lot of downsides - our curtains were hanging off, the toilet flush was broken and one of the lights above the bed didn't work. The shower was grubby and mouldy in... More

Check in was fast and easy as I had pre-booked and paid on line. My room and bathroom was a reasonable size, clean and tastefully decorated although being on the ground floor it had no window, which brings me to my main gripe with this hotel. Why did they relocate the entrance from the main road to rear of the... More

I was a fairly underwhelmed by this hotel when I stayed here with friends in October 2016. It's about 10 minutes walk from Haymarket and if you have lots of luggage you will struggle to walk it. You will need a map too. Once inside, the hotel is very basic. Don't expect luxury. For some of the rooms don't expect... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
