Just returned from a two night stay with friends. Aparthotel is about 10 mins walk from Waverley station although not knowing where we were going we opted to take a cab, which was about £7. The two bed twin rooms were fabulous and what we wanted. The kitchen was very well supplied and we had the addition of the breakfast...

We booked for 9 nights for a break and visit daughter at Edinburgh University. This location could not have been better for the University and main attractions. The apartment was lovely, clean, bright and well supplied. The room was cleaned every day and beds changed every two days. Good selection of TV channels. WiFi avaiable at extra cost. Waverley STation...

We stayed in one of their two bedroom apartments when we went to Edinburgh in September. It was a very nice, clean, well-equipped place. The rooms were big and nicely furnished. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is a bit off the hustle of North Bridge. It's closer to Holyrood Palace, which is nice for people who...

A lovely review of the Holyrood Aparthotel which requires little in the way of input from me, suffice to say many, many thanks to this guest for their kind words, and I hope to see them again soon.. Leon Kiteley General Manager

I've stayed at the Holyrood twice now and both times have been brilliant. Its in the heart of Edinburgh and yet is quiet enough to relax. The hotel is off the Royal Mile which is perfect for shopping and is the starting point of the Merkat Ghost and History Tours, The Real Mary Kings Close and at the top of...

This is a great place to go if you are with a group or traveling with children. My room had two separate bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom) and a separate living area that also had a pullout bed. The value is absolutely terrific and you are steps away from the Royal Mile on a very quiet little courtyard. The...

A wonderful review and I am grateful to this guest, not just for taking the time to relate their experiences to the wider travelling community, but for also mentioning how friendly the staff are, how well equipped the apartments are and how close we are to the Royal Mile. Thanks Again! Leon Kiteley General Manager

We arrived a couple of hours early but wanted to drop our bags off then go and explore the area. There was a young man on reception and we asked if we could leave our bags,he told us that he would check and see if our room was ready for us.He explained that we were put down for the second floor...

Lovely apartments, within a five minute walk of the royal mile. Very well equiped for a leisure break, with everything you could need (tea, coffee, milk, dishwasher tablets etc all included). There's a little tesco supermarket around the corner and a pizza express just seconds from the door for upmost convenience. Receptions staff were great, particularly with taxis etc. We...

We arrived at the apartments via taxi from Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station at a cost of £4 which we were very happy with. We had been given this 2 night stay by our children as a Christmas present and everything had been paid in advance. we were asked to give a credit card for a £50 bond for our keys...

I stayed at the Holyrood Aparthotel in December 2012 together with three members of my family. In my opinion the hotel offers an excellent option for people traveling in groups since you don't need to book two separate rooms (as in most other hotels) and the spaces provided are ample enough to provide for two fully separate rooms with decently...

A fantastic review for the Holyrood Aparthotel and my thanks to this guest for taking such time to list all our selling points. I would, however, like to point out the we DO in fact have a fitness room on the 1st floor, and my apologies to this guest as this was obviously not made clear enough whilst they were...

It was my first time in an 'aparthotel' - our apartment had two rooms, two bathrooms, a lounge/dining area and a small kitchen. Well stocked with appliances and utilities. Comfortable and clean. Location was excellent, just off the Royal mile and around the corner from the Parliament building.

Hopefully, this will not be this reviewer's only time at an aparthotel - I hope we have managed to convert them. That aside, a wonderful review, so, many thanks! Leon Kiteley General Manager

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
