A very conveniently situated Travelodge in Queen Street. The rooms and public areas were spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and perfectly acceptable for a three night stay. For the price you pay this chain provided, in my opinion, excellent value for money.

From dealing with specific room requests to check in / check out, each member of staff encountered was professional and genuinely wanted to help and provide good service with a smile. I think the larger hotel chains could learn a lot from the attitudes of these Travelodge staff.

My title review says it all really. I stayed here for 4 nights last month. I was looking for a clean, comfortable, centrally located base and this is exactly what I got. It's not luxurious but then I wasn't paying those prices. I spent a lot of time browsing for hotels in Edinburgh without paying a fortune and travelodge always...

What a lovely hotel, just a short 10 minutes from Waverley train station and just out of the busy area of town but still a simple short walk away from all the main eateries and shopping area. A peaceful haven for a city break overlooking a park but backing onto Rose Street with it's wide array of shops, bars and...

This is our second visit to the hotel and again we were not disappointed. We had a great sleep as there was no road noise and the room was warm, clean and comfortable. This hotel was very handy for Princes Street and all the sights such as the Castle. There was also many bars and restaurants nearby. The Playhouse theatre was a 15 minute stroll away also the Omni Centre which has a Vue cinema, as well as several restaurants. The hotel is a short (under £5) taxi fare away from Waverley Train Station...

Great location. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. But a bit noisy, especially at 2am when some men came out to put the bins out, stopped to chat. Loudly! Overall, clean comfy rooms and bed. Good value for money.

Fantastic location, exceptional staff and extremely comfortable room. All the staff were so helpful, friendly and polite, they couldn't do enough for us to make sure our stay was memorable. The location was ideal for shopping and seeing the sights, with all the restaurants and shops just round the corner. The room was cosy and warm when we entered on...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
