We have stayed at this hotel several times. The first time we felt the frontage was really bad. Dirty, bins everywhere. Dark. Not really nice. But this time. Wow! Really cleaned up the area. What a difference. The hotel is perfect if you arrrive by train at Waverley station. Very close by. Also great if you are going too the...

Amazing views of the city from our window! The room was clean and a good size, the single beds were ok, not the most comfy! The double was much better!! Perfect location for sight seeing and shopping. Iv already booked to go back again!

Fantastic location and staff. Ideal for our family. Views amazing if you ask for a castle view, although noise in the morning is the compromise. Sainsbury's, Waverley train station and McDonalds a few mins walk away.

Entrance to the hotel needs to be made brighter and cleaner not a great 1st impression. Receptionist helpful and polite on arrival. Stairway, corridors need to be modernised and smelt. Family room, size of room was fantastic but the kids beds were terribly uncomfortable and not able to sleep!!! An enourmous rooom with a very tiny television.

This travelodge is very near to the Waverly station, hardly five minutes walk and right behind the Princes Street. We booked this place on internet and paid through our credit card, but when we reached there they said the payment haven't been received. The reason they gave was that they don't have the option to charge international credit cards. After...

Great location and price. Lynn on reception was very friendly, helpful and made us all feel welcome. A few minutes walk to Edinburgh Waverley station, and all the sights we wanted to see. There's even a McDonald's 30 meters down the street if you need breakfast to recover from the night before 🙃

We stayed in this Travelodge right in the centre of Edinburgh - with its entrance just behind Princess Street. The staff were so friendly and welcoming on our arrival and put us into a wonderful room with amazing views over the castle. The hotel front is obviously from an older previous buildings facade and has lovely windows. The room was...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
