The Edinburgh Townhouse is right in the center of Edinburgh. Some rooms have a view on Edinburgh Castle. All facilities were clean and the room was nicely decorated. It seems to be common for guesthouses to provide coffee and tea in the room, which is a nice add on. As they are not offering breakfast in the Townhouse they have...

Great location. Accomodation is clean and comfortable and the lady who runs the business is friendly and helpful. The only problem is the fact that there are a lot of stairs but that is clearly stated in the information.

We had a very nice stay at Edinburgh Town House and were very warmly welcomed. Edinburgh Town House is excellently located in the city centre. We can warmly recommend it to everyone looking for an accomodation in Edinburgh.

Great location, nice en-suite room. Staff were really helpful with good advice. Room was a decent size and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small, but fine and the shower worked well. Would certainly come back.

Receptionist warm & helpful. Room clean, tea, coffee & milk topped up' daily! Single room limited wardrobe space but adequate for a long weekend. slightly noisy as busy bar three doors away [my room was on the front]. Not advisable for disable people as you need to climb 3 flights of stairs to arrive at the reception area! situated just...

Well, having read some reviews of this place, it seems the majority are from people who thought they were booking a 4 star hotel (at about a quarter of the going rate!). The point is, this is a guesthouse run by some nice people - it's not a Marriott with 24hr reception, 3 restaurants and a glass lift! so now...

Good Location Friendly staff Clean hotel Nice room Improvements Bigger bed. If you are someone who turns over a lot when sleeping you couldn't do it without fear of falling out of the bed. Visited for fringe festival which is highly recommended.

Having never been to Scotland before, I thought this was in a good location, but it is only good if you want to be in new town. Most tourist stuff is near to old town which is quite a walk from this place. It was over-priced, bed was uncomfortable, many stairs (especially after walking all day), and shower temperature was...

Charming old flats that have been kept in period but nicely updated. Very centrally located, about 10 min walk from train station and 15 min walk from town center; close to public to transit. Todd and Valerie were accommodating hosts, very helpful with special requests and recommendations. Would definitely stay again!

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
