Everything was fantastic. Amazing staff, astonishing travelers and.community, great facilities, though the kitchen gets quite busy at midday or between 8-9pm. If you go to the bar, give a try tp the ,,caledonian three hops,,!! During tye year you can get a bed for six pounds night, so it,s also the cheapest place around! Pd:The chill room is amazing!!

The hostel was great, good ubication, clean and confortable, the staff was friendly with one exception, Cristina, she was rude everyday and not helpful at all. I also recomend to do the free walking tour with other company, not with the hostel.

Hi we are so pleased you liked our hostel and found it clean comfortable and friendly. We can only apologise if one of our staff failed to deliver on customer service. We have passed your comments onto our customer service team to ensure all our staff always deliver excellent customer service all of the time. Thank you so very much...

The beds were comfortable and they had good reading lamps and lockers but the place was tiny. The bathrooms were shocking. Two people couldn't even fit between the stalls and the basins. There would be an awkward traffic jam of getting into the shower when someone was washing their hands. There were more men's bathrooms than woman's? And the rest...

Hi There thank you for taking the time to review us. We do indeed have some unisex bathrooms but the only area that is unisex are the sinks. All the showers areas are private pods with a changing area included in the pod. We also have completely female only and male on bathrooms for any guests that do not want...

Very budget. Staff at times finish talking to each other before attending to you at reception, spacious lockers in room but bed was unchanged (unreserved beds so people can try all free beds before choosing one). Had one breakfast there, order was forgotten (waited 20mins when only 3 people were there)...good choice of teas though.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. All our beds have their linen changed after a guest has vacated. Our guests get bed tokens to put on the bed they have chosen. When a guest checks out and removed their token to return to reception indicates to our housekeeping staff that this bed needs its linen changed. If...

I wish I had taken a photo of the private room, my friend and I were able to book at Budget Backpackers. We were really happy with it, and my friend was happy to be in a room where it was just us. She is light sleeper, and although we could hear people in the hallway into the early morning,...

Great location and lovely building (nice combination of old and new). Very friendly staff. The rooms are basic, but if all you're looking for is a bed then it is perfect. Safe, with lockers for your belongings (even if you have a large bag).

The design of the hostel was very artsy with graffiti and colourful walls, not really what I expected from watching the photos online. Staff was friendly and helpful. And the location good. The only thing that bothered me was that you couldn't bring your own snack and drinks to the common areas.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are pleased you found our staff helpful and friendly. Our guests are more than welcome to bring their own food into the hostel and eat it in the Chill our area upstairs or the Self catering kitchen provided for our guests. We just ask guests not to eat their own...

Just home from a group trip in Edinburgh. We're a college sports team and older members begged me to book this hostel, claiming that two years ago it was amazing place to stay. Well nothing has changed. Just as I had been promised by my team mates the place was awesome. Always buzzing with people and a great little bar...

Shared a 4 bed female dorm and it was pretty good. Had own personal lamp and charging station and large lockers in the room. Also had a sink in the room which was handy for brushing teeth etc. Good location, although loud at night but that's to be expected at a place with a bar!

For 6 pounds a night I shouldn't really complain! Staff were friendly and gave me quite a bit of help. Security was clearly a massive priority for the owners, with key cards and ID and cameras. The decor was also nice and funky. Unfortunately ,however, wasn't able to connect to wifi the whole time, and the second day there was...

Hi there thank you for taking the time to review us. We did experience a power cut on the last day of your stay . Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
