Ooo, I'm so excited to return to The Residence this March!! Not only will we be staying in complete luxury, knowing that the friendly staff will be on hand to ensure our stay is just perfect. We have the beautiful city of Edinburgh explore, although I have to confess we spend the majority of our time in the appartment.

The apartments are exceptional, the best I have stayed in. I don't understand why people would pay for a 5 star hotel room when you can have practically a suite here to yourself for much, much less. The breakfast and bar are great value and the staff accommodating but not intrusive.

Just returned home from a weekend away at the Chester Residence to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. What a fab weekend! The staff were friendly and provided a great service. Our apartment was even better than expected - huge, modern and very clean. I ordered the birthday package and was pleased with it. Would definitely like to return!

Staying at The Chester Residence made our long weekend in Edinburgh an amazing one! It really is understandable why it is number one. We stayed here with another couple, who were getting married. The apartment itself was incredible and very clean with great facilities and little touches i.e. Molton Brown toiletries, robes, slippers, coffee machine, etc. The staff were more...

Our second visit and impressed that standards remain high. Lovely to stay in spacious accommodation with tasteful interior design and with distinctive high quality fittings. Attentive, but never intrusive, staff that always make you feel welcome. Seems to be run on a solid business rationale; regular business gained through exceeding customer expectations. We’ll be back.

We stayed here to celebrate my birthday. My partner & I have both stayed in some wonderful places but we both agreed this was our favourite by far. The location is really central, just behind Princes Street. We arrived very early and planned to simply drop our bags and spend a few hours in town. But our room was ready...

Once again The Chester Residence has proven to be one of the finest hotels we have ever had the privilege of experiencing. The rooms are incredible and you immediately feel at home as opposed to being crammed into a room with a bed you have your own living room, fire place, kitchen and bedroom. The furnishings are so comfortable and...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

Dear Manisha,

Thank you so much for choosing The Chester Residence. Edinburgh is very walkable. We have great bars and restaurants located within a 5 minute radius. A walk to the Castle would take approximately 25 minutes (depending on pace). It is a wonderful walk with so much to see on the way.

Our Guest Service Team would be happy to arrange airport transportation. Or as other travellers have mentioned, the tram is also a very convenient way to get to the hotel from the airport. The walk from the nearest tram stop is approximately 7 minutes.

Please do contact the hotel on 0131 226 2075 and we would be happy to assist with your travel plans.

Dear Wanda H,

Thank you for contacting us.

There are no washers or dryers in the apartments, but we provide wash and fold laundry service for our guests.

On Rothesay place we have 4 townhouses and all the deluxe apartments are located here, on Chester street we have the standard apartments, which are more traditional in design, but gives you the same comfort. The two locations are 2 minute walk away. If you prefer modern design, you should go for the deluxe apartments.

Please do let us know if you need further information.

Kind regards,

Viktoria Toth

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your message. That is correct, we only have 3 spaces available, on first come first served basis. If we are full, there is on street meter parking for maximum 4 hours or alternatively the NCP near the Castle.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry. The Chester Residence is located in the West End of the city and you can easily walk to the Castle and down the Royal Mile, but if you wish to use public transportation there are several bus stops around the Hotel and our Reception will advise you the best option.
