Needed somewhere affordable for 2 nights in Edinburgh. Had found the prices of hotels and national chains of 'budget' hotels far more expensive than I'd anticipated. So I looked at B&B guest houses as an alternative. I found Mackenzie which is towards the northern end of Edinburgh (Leith). The hosts were very attentive and friendly, happy to advise on where... I stayed here for a few days prior to a business engagement in Edinburgh. Easily accessible by bus - the bus stops right outside the door which is great for traveling in and out of town. Located directly across the road from a lovely park which is nice to relax in if the weather is fine. Takes about 15 minutes... More

We stayed two nights and the room was excellent for our needs. Clean room and washroom. Quiet and spacious. Great breakfast with lots of food and gracious hosts. Well secure at night and on road parking. We were reluctant at first about this but can park all the time and took bus into Edinburgh. It was recommended a number of... More

Me and my girlfriend had a lovely time in the Guest House, the landlord couple are very friendly and available to provide any information or something you need; for example we asked for a early breakfast one morning since we had an tour in town and it was ok. The place is great, 10/15 min from Edimburgh centre by bus... More

My fiancé and I spent three nights here to celebrate her birthday. The Guest House was very quiet and right on a lovely park. The breakfast was made to order and was delicious. The owners were very helpful with cabs and accommodating some of our unique timing circumstances due to our scheduled day trips and flights.

Sometimes, just having a smiling, helpful and friendly landlord is what makes the difference between a great time and a grumpy time :) The location is also easily accessible via bus and instead of just one journey, taking a day card helps you just sit in the bus and watch the entire city if you are tired to walk around... I've stayed here for two nights with my wife during the Edinburgh's Christmas Market, and it was very lovely. Danny and Jasmine, the couple who own the B&B are very helpful and welcoming and they made our stay very enjoyable. The room we stayed in was very big with a double and a single bed and ensuite bathroom. The bathroom... More
