I was a little disappointed as the pictures so add to the description, the main bit were the reception is, is beautiful. How ever once we'd been given our room key and realised we were on a different building, it's looked really run down and tired. The rooms were quite small but not a problem. The bathroom was tiny !...

Its located a few minutes walk from Haymarket Station, it cost us just over 50 quid a night - the room was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was exactly what we were looking for. Would have no hesitation staying there again.

I call this the "you get what you pay for hotel". My experience was pretty good and would stay again. I didn't have any real issues. We stayed on a Saturday night for£80. Which was very good compared to the competition. Checked in was straight forward and the room was massive (attached picture). Check out was fairly painless too. The...

YES we got our initial dates wrong as people coming over from New Zealand and the flights changed so we booked through booking.com and did apologise and paid extra to change the date and thats where the good...

When checking in to hotel we were given a room in the basement of the hotel. The room was very, very small. The Room number was 10. When I went back to the front desk, I said that the picture of the room and the room did not match. I was told that they had only one picture advertised. I...

I booked a last minute trip to Scotland and after much consideration I went for this hotel. For the price I paid ( around 45£ prpn/ double room) I thought the place was pretty decent. I totally recommend it if you are not looking for a budget hotel, but also not looking for deluxe acco. It is somewhere in between...

Just back from a 1 night stay at the hotel after the Rugby, excellent place to stay when going to Murrayfield and our room was lovely and clean and much bigger than expected. The only downside to our stay was the rude young man on recepetion who did not make us feel at all welcome on arrival, he was most...

This hotel was an unexpected delight from the early check in free of charge, the warm welcome from the receptionist to the delightful room. Being a 10/15 minute walk from princes street , it was perfectly located next to haymarket The shower itself was my favourite part, best hotel shower I've used. Only issue would be the wifi would cut...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
