The Piries hotel is very clean and and has all the facilities you need to make your stay comfortable.the staff were very helpful and the locals are very friendly. On the down side this hotel...

It started badly. I had emailed a request for a room with a view, meaning upstairs, but was placed in a dungeon with a 20 cm slit-view of pedestrian legs, too cramped for a table, and TV so high on the wall one had to lie on the bed to watch it. Next day I was removed upstairs, and this...

Hotel is in a good location and is reasonably comfortable. Breakfast is quite poor but does the job I suppose. My biggest issue was the very rude receptionist who abruptly told me she was 'too busy' when I asked for service at the bar. Another huge issue was the shower, 10 of us stayed there and all rooms had a...

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was impeccably clean and spacious; the staff were friendly and informative and the location was perfect for exploring the city. The hotel was easy to find from the airport bus and the 24-hour reception was beneficial, as it allowed us to check out without and worries.

Booked this hotel through the BA website and got a fantastic deal. Though the rooms are small, they are clean and if you wanted any extras they were happy to oblige. Located around the corner from Haymarket station, it is only a 20 minute walk from the Centre of Edinburgh, or there are numerous bus routes into town if you...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
