Had to get a taxi from the train station, go to an address that they gave us,pick up the key for the apartment, while keeping the taxi running then off to the apartment. A wee bit hassle but not terrible. The building is lovely and modern, and we were on the sixth floor but there was a lift. First impressions...

We were booked into a Scotia Grand Residence apartment for a two night stay to take part in the Edinburgh marathon (reserved through Hotels.com). Upon arrival at the Quartermile on the Saturday afternoon, the Scotia reception was locked up and empty. A representative from a nearby company informed us that the local franchise of Scotia Residences had gone in to...

We booked an apartment to see our son who is at University and watch the international. The room we were offered looked over a building site was noisy and the workers could see straight in through the windows. A second room offered was at street level, noisy and had cheap and damaged furniture. The rooms look nothing like the photos....

So we booked these apartments for a hen party for last month through the MD Scott? Never have I received such bad customer service from him. When we booked this place he was aware it was a hen party even though he mentioned that they don't normally accept it but as long as we behaved then it would be fine....

There was also a fresh bottle of milk in the fridge when we arrived including sachets of tea coffee and sugar. The views...

Go somewhere else!!!. Unfortunately we received a phone call from Booking.com 3 days before Christmas to stay our reservation had been cancelled by Scotia. They could not give me an explanation why. We loved the outlay and furniture of the house: comfortable sofa, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Made good use out of the washing machine, as well. A special thanks goes to Louise for her super service: not only did she organize our cab to the airport, but tried to find out where we could buy a lamp that caught our...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
