Comfortable and efficient business hotel. Good location for Edinburgh West End. I would avoid the rooms facing the street as they are very noisy. Seem to recently have put up their rates - starting to feel like London rates!!

Visited this hotel in March for a weekend away with my boyfriend. We arrived at the hotel around 4pm on a Friday and we had to wait for 5-10 minutes before there was an available receptionist, bit annoying but it was Friday so understandable that they were busy. We were greeted by Melise who was very friendly, and we were...

Very good hotel in an excellent location for a variety of restaurants, theatres and visitor attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given warm freshly baked chocolate cookies on check in. Yummy.

This hotel is exactly as you would expect from the tried and trusted name above the front door. Check in was smooth and hassle free and the cookie which they give you on checking in was very good, all be it a little unnecessary in my opinion. Our room on the top floor was very nice well appointed with a...

Had a great weekend here after having a bad start at a bed and breakfast we had booked and had to leave. It was our anniversary and quickly booked a double room with breakfast so did not know what to expect, I'd never stayed at a Hilton before. The reception where so welcoming on our arrival and upgraded is to...

The hotel is very modern, the rooms decently appointed, and everything works as it should. The views aren't special, the breakfast is what one expects of a mid-range chain hotel, which is certainly adequate, and there's a very nice bar next door, not to speak of a good pub across the street.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Edinburgh Hilton Double Tree Hotel. The staff were all courteous and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and tidy, also quite spacious. The Hilton is well situated in the middle of town.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
