Hotel is centrally located in Edinburgh.. close to Edinburgh Castle. Hotel has been re-done recently.. was the Pearl Hotel. Room size was good.. furniture layout was probably one of the worst I have ever seen in a hotel. Room lighting was really bad.. extremely dark.Bathroom was good. Breakfast was good as was the adjoining bar.One word of caution,, if you...

Great week-end from start to finish. Our birthday girls were up-graded the staff could not have been more helpful, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast had a good variety. Check-in went smoothly even though we had booked months in advance Our bags were held in the hotel until we were ready to leave which was a nice touch

From the minute I walked into the hotel I felt welcomed. The front desk staff was very warm and accommodating. The renovated room was very nice – only downside was that the very modern bathroom had absolutely no place for placing my toiletries. Completely stumped on a great modern hotel missing his number one priority in a hotel room. But...plug...

Overall a pleasant 4 night stay. Some commentary: - location did have a great view of the castle and conveniently located. I was a bit surprised that it seemed like some of the nearby streets were a bit "dodgy", but always felt safe so not really a problem. Very conveniently located to lots of Edinburgh's "must see" places. - Service...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
