My stay at the Southside Guest House was booked by my hosts at the University of Edinburgh, so I did not know exactly what to expect, as I have stayed at B&Bs before and have not always been thrilled with the experience. The Southside seems more like a boutique hotel, however, due no doubt to the sophistication of its proprietors...

My husband and I relied on TripAdvisor to find this guest house in Edinburgh. We just couldn't ignore the RAVE reviews the Southside Guest House received......and staying there turned out to be the best hotel experience we have ever had! We travel quite a bit, especially in Europe, so this is saying something for us. Franco and Lynne were charming,...

A totally delightful B and B, a real find. It's a beautiful house with lovely decor , in terms of the colours, fabrics, artwork, furniture, etc. Our room was huge, and equipped with everything we might need during our stay, including an iron and an ironing board , a corkscrew, and even a hot-water bottle! Other really nice touches were...

This is a beautiful guest house run by hotel trained owners. Franco is from Florence and his love of modern art was evident around the house. The entire house has been redone with modern plumbing, and quality toiletries. The breakfast room is beautiful with excellent food and gracious service. So why don't I fall all over myself with this place....

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time staying here! The room was really comfortable with lush decor and was nice and warm. The bathroom was again spacious with a lovey big bath. There were special touches which made our stay even better, such as traditional Scottish shower gel and hand wash etc in the bathroom, which smelt gorgeous! The...

Just had a lovely 3 night midweek stay in The Terrace Suite. We chose Southside based on TA reviews and we were not dissappointed. The house has some lovely period features yet still offers a modern feel more like a boutique hotel. Lynn and Franco are very nice hosts, their friendliness pitched at just the right level we thought. We...

This is a really great place. i'll break it down into sections; Location; In a suburb in Newington only about a 5ish min bus ride into town. Costs a £1. A few good restaurants nearby too! B&B: More like a boutique hotel than a B&B, really great decor, traditional fusing with modern. Lovely hosts. Breakfast is lovely! Fantastic organic museli...

Cannot speak highly enough about our stay at Southside. The property is beautiful, clean and cosy. The hosts welcoming and friendly, and the attention to detail is fantastic. The rooms are well equipped, beautifully decorated and stylish yet cosy. Breakfast was delicious - from the speciality sausages to the Bucks Fizz! In fact we spent longer than planned chatting over...

Upon arrival at the Southside Guest House, we were greeted by the frienldy owners, Lynne and Marco. The room was ready on our arrival even though we were two hours early for check in. The room had a really cosy feel and the character of the property, with it's high ceilings and original features, made it even more welcoming. The...

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. The Hosts were welcoming and friendly and cooked us a superb breakfast when we arrived at 9am. The decor was lovely, clean and bright with all the nice touches that make a room a home. The best thing however was the breakfast which was out of this world and had...
