I have never stayed in a premier Inn and my expectations were surpassed . The hotel is in a great central location. The rooms very spacious and a very comfortable bed. The toiletries are very basic , but I can't fault that as the room rate is so competitive I'd rather save a bit of money on the room than...

In Edinburgh as a group for our daughter's marriage ceremony, the staff at the Premier Inn provided a complementary breakfast for the bridal party, including a bottle of prosecco and a lovely card with a personal message. I was pleasantly surprised by the well-designed bedrooms, especially the good shower cabinet, and the quality and range of breakfast food was excellent...

Short break with my grandchildren to see the castle. Everything was so near by! We could walk easily to the castle and the Scottish museum. There were plenty of restaurants near by that suited both young and old. Great location.

Let me tell you this is a fantastic hotel. Very high standards of cleanliness. Excellant services in the booking. Only one bad note, for a muslim there are not many vegetarian options in the hotel and the nearest take away is about a mile away which isnt really good on your pocket if you going by taxi as the only...

Good location. Friendly staff. Room linen was not clean. Continental breakfast was not that great. Croissants were not fresh at all. Homeless gentleman outside hotel at all times which makes it uncomfortable when walking back to hotel in the evening. Location is what actually fantastic. Walking 7 minutes to castle to enjoy the wonderful city of Edinburgh.

Great facilities. Excellent service. Staff really pleasant & helpful. Only in Edinburgh for a short stay, great location with only a short walk to the castle & other attractions. Would have no hesitation going back there.

Everything was very good. The location of the hotel is easy to find. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We were initially concerned about whether it would be too noisy, but this was not a problem - it was quiet. The breakfast was excellent value and all staff friendly and attentive.

My wife and I arrived on 2nd January, after the train journey from Liverpool. We arrived an hour early. But staff on the reception were happy to make sure a room was available for us. Which meant we could explore the historic city straight away. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was perfect in every aspect. We were...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
