I arrived from the Highlands and tromped around town for a while, vexed by the high prices of hotels, before learning that there were guest houses out along Gilmore Place, just the other side of the castle and near to Grassmarket and other intriguing locales....More

Very conveniently situated bed and breakfast. Room we had was bit on the small side and very hot at night. Breakfasts were OK and the service friendly and quick.the host was very friendly, unfortunately we did not have time to hear him sing.

We stayed in the annex next door so did not see rooms in the main house, but ours was quite comfortable. The staff was helpful with answers to our questions, and having a hearty breakfast served by waiters in kilts was delightful. Mr. Cran's evening...More

    West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
