Very patient and certailnly knew his Cocktails, one of the party did not take alcohol and he catered for her so well. Excellent value for money.

We stayed at Le Monde for 2 nights recently for a special occasion. We managed to get a last minute deal which gave us a significant discount. I'll start with the positives: The location is brilliant, you can park in either the St.James' Centre (5 mins away) or near the Omni (8 mins away) which is great. The reception staff...

Thank you for your comments and feedback. First of all I am glad to hear you enjoyed your few days in Edinburgh however I am sorry to hear you felt this way about the hotel. Each room is individually themed on different cities and the theme is carried on throughout the rest of the complex. Unfortunately being city center we...

My fiance and I were recently guests of Le Monde Hotel. We stayed in the Casablanca suite for the first and second nights, and the Cairo suite for the third night. While the staff of the hotel was exceptionally friendly and professional, the accommodations left much to be desired. Upon checkout, I was extremely disappointed with our stay at your...

Had supper last night in Le Monde and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff, food and ambiance great and so much nicer than I remembered from previous visits. The food was really good and good choice on menu. All the staff were very attentive and nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend especially if you can get a booth to right at...

There is no denying this hotel and the rooms are stunning, the location is great for pubs and restaurants but it is hugely let down by the noise of the hotel nightclub (if you go to the nightclub you wont mind but if you want to get to sleep at a reasonable time its an issue!) luckily I stayed for...

First of all, thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. I am sorry to hear we have not met your expectations on this occasion. Le Monde is a vibrant place located in the heart of George Street and as you say ideal location for some of the best bars and restaurants Edinburgh has to offer. Our late night...

My husband and I stayed in the New York suite for his 40th birthday and our stay was faultless from beginning to end! We arrived early but staff were more than happy to keep our luggage and said they would make sure they were put into our room for when we returned. After exploring the city we returned to the...

I didn't stay in any of the rooms so can't comment on them. I ate here as part of a large hen party. We dined from a set menu which was priced at £30pp for 3 courses. The menu was fabulous, with a few different choices. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive, but...

Stayed in the LA suite for 2 nights and loved it! Staff were very friendly. Great size of room, huge comfortable bed, 2 TVs, great lighting features, nice seating area, large dressing table & huge bath tub! Great location for getting to shops/restraunts. A bit pricey for the suite and nightmare to get parked outside hotel. Nearby car park is...

Thank you for your comments on L.A. and your recent stay. So glad to hear you had such a good experience and are intending to come back in the future. Booked 2 nights over the weekend but was not impressed. We booked an executive room which was nothing special, very basic with only a standard double bed. For what we paid for the room it was very overpriced compared to other boutique hotels we've stayed. We requested a quiet room but still very noisy all night from people amalgamating outside...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
