Good for 1 night, definitly woukdnt stay longer. Good lounge area but guest kitchen is averagely equipped and very small comoared to size of lounge. Difficult to meet others in this particular atmosphere. Awesome location! Good to have individual plug sockets to each bed and lockers.

Poor quality of sleep due to a snoring roommate and warm rooms! Hostel bar & bedrooms were uncomfortably hot & stuffy with the heating blasting. No fresh air as others kept closing bedroom window. Staff very friendly & eager to assist & inform. Each bunk bed had its own personal light and locker. Separate showers, sinks & toilets in the...

Very good hostel. Clean rooms, comfortable matrasses, perfect location. we only missed the free coffee and tea in the shared kitchen. The city is beautifull, at the Grass market you can find nice pubs and a trip to arthurs seat and the pentland hills is so worth it!

This must be one of the nicest, cleanest and certainly safest feeling Hostel I have had the pleasure of staying in, no fuss, no request is asking too much, great customer service from all departments. The rooms are clean, and offers a first class menu and bar in house at affordable prices.

Very good hostel at an unbeatable price. Central and with good food service in the bar. The rooms are quiet, even been in the center, they are kept very clean and the reception staff are super friendly.

We've been three times with groups of 30. It's great. You can get shared dorms, rooms for 1 or 2 and it includes breakfast. The bar and kitchen are great for groups. Luggage storage is provided too. Very well located.

Quiet, clean, good price, good staff and good location. Comun area confortable and big. The toilet in the room could be better designed, but is a plus to have it inside and don't need to leave the room.

Safe stay is central and cheap. The people are nice enough and we heard the bar was fun - heard it because we struggled to sleep with noise from the bar courtyard below. Our fault for opting for relatively cheap digs off the Royal Mile I suppose. While we had a fairly lousy night because of the noise of cheerfully...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
