This hotel was amazing!! The love package is what we booked for and this didn't disappoint! The attention to detail was fantastic and could not say a single thing bad about this hotel!! The service was 5 star and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for only one night and felt sad to leave as I could get used...

The general remarks that people said when we told them we were staying at Tigerlily were that it was one of the best hotels in Edinburgh. We had a high expectation and unfortunately we were left more than a little deflated by our experience. Downstairs the bar and restaurant were beautiful.... atmosphere great and absolutely packed to the gunnels.... cocktails...

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, maybe even the best. Room was amazing, food also, great selection of cocktails and beers, very friendly staff, even had a woman coming round the rooms offering to top up your ice bucket. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back

After really looking forward to a weekend away here we came away dreadfully disappointed. I think maybe 5-10 years ago it would have been lovely but it's just really tatty and lacking in customer service. From the scuffed and peeling wallpaper in the corridors, to the chipped dressing table, the shower fitting that was coming away from the wall, the...

We have just returned from a two night stay in this wonderful hotel. The thing we liked about this hotel was that it was so different to the normal corporate hotels we usually stay at. We chose a luxury room, which had a humongous bed and blue teeth Sony speaker, which connected easily to the iPod. The bathroom was nicely...

I stayed here with my mum back in June 2016 and wanted to write a review about it as it was a great stay. I had only one experience with staying at a hotel with a high star rating and that wasn't the most comfortable experience so I was a little apprehensive, but the staff were all lovely from when...

The rooms are fab lovely and spacious. Just wish we...

My boyfriend and I stayed here on 14th February, valentine's night. We checked in at around 4pm and the receptionist was so lovely!!! She personally took us to our room and chatted away to us in the lift on the way up. We stayed in a classic double room and it was huge. The bathroom was incredible with a big...

I remember the first time I stayed at this hotel, that the staff were so very young, and couldn't see a more senior person who would be the manager. There wasn't. There isn't, but by Jove this really works. We got an upgrade to a suite, which helps. All electrics worked easily, including the fire, which was awesome. We've been...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
