I stayed here as it was my conference hotel so had no set expectations and was pleased to see on arrival it was recently upgraded to 4*. It was certainly aiming for this but it was a strange place, like it was 4* on paper but a bit 'off' staying there. E.g. the room size was good and facilities good...

Modern boutique hotel in a quiet square in the university quarter. We booked a Classic room on a Friday night at short notice and paid £100 not including breakfast. After a warm welcome from reception we were automatically upgraded from a Classic to a Deluxe room which was much appreciated. It's a shame more hotels don't offer instant upgrades. Why...

A great place to stay when visiting Edinburgh. A short 5 minute walk from Princes St close to the Royal Mile. Two night stay with £30 voucher each from a la carte menu for dinner on first night. Food was excellent, buffet breakfast both mornings and staff extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here

The staff at the hotel were also fabulous, placing a birthday card in the room for my partner and I'd like to say a big thank you to James on reception who went out...

I was here for a conference at the Royal College of Surgeons. We were exceptionally well looked after at Ten Hill Place, and the staff were brilliant - the perfect balance of relaxed friendliness and attentive professionalism. They even posted me back my phone charger when I forgot it, and had a good secure bag store for my stuff on...

We had an overnight here to celebrate a special birthday with my husband. Absolutely could not fault any aspect of hotel or service. We tend to book well known larger hotels but tried something different and we were very glad we did, good old fashioned service from very friendly staff. Lovely clean well appointed room and delicious breakfast with locally...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.

“We booked a classic double but we had a skyline room over looks street and hills. To be honest I was out all day so as long as room clean with everything I need I would say all nice. But you can always email hotel before you leave to see if any requirements can be met they are really helpful on the front desk.”
