I stayed in the Dorstan past 2 nights while I was in Edinburgh for the Rugby. It's a 2 minute walk from the front door to the bus into town (30 or 33 Service). Takes about 15 minutes to get into the centre of town. Place was clean and well run. Nice room with a sink in the room and...

We recently stayed here for the weekend during the Six Nations rugby tournament. The communication with Richard before and during our visit was excellent - he is extremely friendly, welcoming, and offers helpful advice to visitors to Edinburgh. The rooms were spacious and clean, and breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommended!

My husband and I visited Edinburgh for a few days to celebrate his birthday. I chose the Dorstan because of its location, good reviews and price and I wasn't disappointed. We arrived early, ( a couple of hours before check in) and had planned to just park thee car and head into Edinburgh but Richard was there and checked us...

We had a brilliant time with our excellent host Richard. He welcomed us warmly and gave us lots of useful information about travel, places to visit and options for tours. Dorstan Guest House had a warm and homely atmosphere. Our room was clean and spacious, with plenty of extra blankets if neede d. The hot water was extremely hot but...

The Dorstan is definitely not a walk away from the city centre. Me and my partner both enjoy walking and have a dog that we often take on massive walks, however, it's a hike and takes at least 30/40 minutes to walk, even at a fast pace. Thankfully Edinburgh has uber so it is quite cheap to travel around but...

Before our departure we received a text from Richard to confirm our arrival which was quite a surprise. Once I had confirmed our plans he was kind enough to accommodate us as we were due to arrive at the guest house 2 hours in advance of our anticipated time. Throughout our stay they made sure we were comfortable and were...

Richard was an absolute gentleman and greeted me on arrival. I would highly recommend staying at the Dorstan which was a palace for the moderate price charged. A taxi to the city centre is only around £5 and can be walked in 30-40mins comfortably. The room was very homely with all the required amenities and guests can come and go...

A lovely little guesthouse in a nice neighbourhood of Edinburgh. About 10 minutes on the buss from the city centre. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice about what to have, all well cooked and fantastic. Really friendly staff

We arrived early evening on a trip to see Mamma Mia and Richard was there to greet us and take us through the locality and where all the best places were to go and how to get there. He phoned a taxi for us to get us to the theatre on time and had turned the heating on in our...
