Cluaran House provided everything I needed for a long weekend from London. I stayed in the single room (with a bathroom that is not attached to the room, just 5 steps down the hall with a lock and key for your private use), and although the room was a bit small, it was really all I needed for a very...

We stayed at Clauran Guesthouse for four nights, and had a wonderful time. The room was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The bedroom was large and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good, the dining room quaint and Noreen, the proprietor was very considerate. I eat a special gluten and dairy free diet and Noreen was very accommodating....

We booked our stay here based on the reviews we've read...and we are not disappointed. Perfect location wise - shops, cafes, bus stop, laundry all within 5 mins walk. We're a family with 2 young girls and this is perfect for us. Host is very accommodating and warm. Room is perfect - clean and comfortable with one extra bed for...

I stayed for two days recently to visit the Festival, and the Cluaran was quite lovely. With it being Festival month, I wasn't expecting a cheap stay, and I fully appreciate supply and demand economics, but when seeking accommodation for a person travelling alone, I was really struggling to find anything reasonably priced, unless I wanted to share a dorm...

I stayed here a few weeks ago on my own in a single room. My son has bought a property nearby which was being renovated and booked me in here for a couple of nights. I emailed a few days before my arrival to give details of my flight and asking directions. I received a very quick reply with very...

This was a charming house. The owner was so nice made you feel right at home. The room was very clean with a nice bay window. Breakfast was also included. The hotel is within walking distance into town. I would definitely book here again.

If you want to stay a little away from Royal Mile and soak in the awesomeness of the typical English experience, this is the place for you. The owners are lovely , the place is done up quite well, very cozy and decent breakfast which they themselves cook for you. She was very helpful with everything. The common area is...

Once again, a warm reception from the owners who are real charming characters and very Scottish. There is a very relaxed atmosphere in the house, yet it is quiet and peaceful. The location is perfect for a short walk into town or straight to the castle. The rooms are really clean and the beds are super comfy... just as they...

There's no missing Cluaran House - the big yellow terraced location with bright blue steps outlining a stained glass effect thistle immediately screams "accommodation with artistic style". The inside is less extreme however, and boasts a more relaxed, country style theme with undeniably Scottish outlines. We (that’s me and the dog) were initially greeted by the very friendly resident Lhasa...

I stayed at Cluaran House previously and was happy as detailed in my review. One year on, having decided to go back to Edinburgh with my wife for 2/3 days, I decided to book a two night stay there again. The only room left for my dates was the big family room which could be occupied by two adults for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a sophisticated 4-star guesthouse set in a period building dating from the 1860s now fully restored with original period features and our own bespoke interior style. We are located in the famous Bruntsfield Links area of Edinburgh, next to parkland and within close walking distance to the city centre, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and Edinburgh International Conference Centre. All our bedrooms are individually decorated in harmonious colours chosen to compliment the original period Victorian fixtures (the house dates from the late 1860s). All rooms are ensuite and have kingsize beds apart from the single which has its own private bathroom and a three quarter Victorian antique bed. In addition, all rooms are individually decorated and have free Wi-fi; flat-screen TVs; i-pod docking stations; alarm clocks; tea/coffee making facilities and an eclectic mini library to browse. Many original features have been restored to something of their former glory e.g. the stunning stained glass panel of our entrance door and sanded original floorboards. Cornices, wooden shutters and much of the original flooring have all been rejuvenated giving a fascinating glimpse into the skilled craftsmanship of the period. Tea and coffee facilities; flat screen TVs; free Wi-Fi; and ipod docking stations are all available.Cluaran House has been the location of 4 film shoots and 1 international fashion shoot. ... more   less
