Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.

Myself and husband had an overnight stay at this Hotel for the Christmas market and could not fault it. Yes the room is smaller than other Hotels we have stayed in but there was everything you needed and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, a big shower cubicl

Hi, We land at Edinburgh airport about 1.30pm on a Sunday afternoon, What is the most straight forward/quickest way of getting from the airport to this hotel ? We obviously want to avoid getting a cab. So either train, Tram or Bus? I am not sure which one is the most frequent and nearest to the hotel? Thanks in advance
Tram, will practically drop you off outside, the hotel is right opposite the Balmoral hotel, above the Apple store.

Read a lot of reviews saying room is hot and does not have air conditioning. I am keen to book but the rooms available now for my travel dates are those without city view. Can the windows of these rooms be opened?
Hi Pipo2968, Thanks for your question. All our rooms do have an air cooling system in them, if you are not sure how to work it when you get to the room, please just ask our Front Desk team and they will be happy to show you how to use it to keep the room at a suitable temperature. All the rooms in our hotel have windows that can tilt open. For legal reasons in the UK, hotel windows cannot be opened wide. I am sure that with our air cooling system, and the moderate Scottish temperatures, you will enjoy a comfortable stay with us. If there is anything else we can help with, please let us know. We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh. Best Wishes, Celia

Hey I ma booked to stay with you from 25 - 30 March. Quick question about getting to the hotel from the airport. If I were to hop on to the tran, which and how close is a stop?
It is easy to take the tram from Edinburgh Airport to Motel One Edinburgh-Princes. The closest stop is St. Andrews Square. Motel One Edinburgh-Princes is just a short 2 minute walk from the tram stop. When leaving the tram, cross over the road (the garden should be behind you) and then walk back down the road the tram has just come up. At the bottom of the road turn left on to Princes Street (there is a Vodafone shop on the corner). Then take the next road on your left (on the corner is Apple Store) and the hotel entrance is just there. The tram journey takes about 25 minutes. A single journey is £6, or £8.50 for a return ticket and can be bought at the airport from the tram stop. I hope this information is useful. If there is anything else we can help with, please let us know. We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh and Motel One. Warm Regards, Celia

Do all rooms have windows, and do they open? Are all rooms air conditioned?
We stayed in a City View room which had small windows in both the room and the bathroom. Both opened a small amount.

Hi is there car parking near by? Also is this near to the usher hall Thanks
Dear Ash1994x, Thank you for sending your question. As Beckygee01 mentioned we do have a good deal with a car park nearby called Q-Park. This is a secure NCP car park which costs our guests £10.00 per 24hrs. The usual cost is £20.00. The postcode for the car park is EH1 3AN and the entrance is on Greenside Row. I hope that helps with your question. Kind Regards, Calum
