I spent nearly a week at Dene Guest House during the festivals in August and was glad that I had chosen to stay there. The location is convenient for walking everywhere or taking the bus, but outside the most touristy areas which can be overwhelming in Edinburgh in August. Simone was incredibly helpful from the time I emailed her to...

I like walking and this guest house is near the Leith walkway, a delightful track beside the river. I had the single basement room, which I found comfortable and well equipped . Breakfasts were generous and filling, and the hosts were friendly and helpful.

This place has 11 rooms, pretty much 3 on each floor. We stayed in 9, which has an ensuite bathroom in it, which is nice. It's in a big old stone building (early 1800's ?) with 12 foot ceilings and huge windows, except that on the third floor which are just dormer windows, but hey, it's the top floor so...

Absolutely brilliant stay. A nice walk away from the center down a beautiful hill, or a very short bus ride. Would definitely come back. We did them accidentally forget our plants there, I hope they found a nice home there, oops haha.

Friendly, quiet guesthouse, with very clean, large, airy rooms. Good quality breakfasts. Ideal location for all the city's attractions, being walking distance of central Edinburgh, Stockbridge, the Botanic etc and located very close to a number of bus routes. Would heartily recommend.

I came to Edinburgh for the weekend on business, and honestly decided to stay here because it was the cheapest that was close to where I going during the day, so with that in mind I wasn't expecting much (room was £49 per night with breakfast included). I wasn’t able to check in until 2300 (ish) on my first night...

I had a lovely time there, felt just like I was in home, the staff were great with all my needs. It's a lovely hostel, and I'm looking forward to visit it again. I've been in some hostels and I loved this one. I recommend it 100%. Breakfast was great, cozy place. Just perfect. Had a wonderful rest there.

Attractive accommodations in a good location. Bus stop on the corner but nice walk up the hill. We had a large room downstairs, very quiet, with a bathroom. Bed was good but pillows were not, our only complaint. Breakfast was excellent and hostess very nice and helpful. Would probably go back again.
