The staff were pleasant at all times and helpful as we also found the door key cards intermittently stopped working.
We were there for 5 nights and the room wasn't attended to in that time, the tea and coffee wasn't replenished and no cleaning was done, i was unaware that you ask for it to be done either verbally or some say putting a sign on the door when you require it?
When we entered the room it stunk like someone had sprayed a couple of cans of febreze. The bed was broken at the bottom, didn't look very nice or clean. The toilet didn't flush very well and the shower collected water.
I wanted to borrow a hairdryer, but no one was at the desk and no bell to call anyone. I knocked on the door and shouted and eventually got someone.
The sanitiser station was empty at the side, there was a pump on reception when we arrived, but that had gone later. The receptionist had their mask under their nose and no one else in the hotel seemed to wear one except us.
Generally it just didn't feel very clean out safe.
After having driven a long way and been around lots of the sights of the area during the day, a good nights sleep was needed but I didn’t sleep that well at all.
Not only was the bed uncomfortable, we were also on the ground floor in the first room next to the entrance. With this being a 24 hour hotel people can go in and out, but I find that people aren’t overly considerate in the level of noise they were making, or where they stood when smoking. This led to us having to shut our windows which then meant the room got extremely hot due to 4 people in the room. We also found rubbish that had been left by previous occupants of the room on the wardrobe hanging section and under the bed which left us wondering whether the room had been cleaned properly, plus there was only one tea bag in the pot for us to use.
The shower was okay and the tv worked okay, although was very limited in the channels it picked up.
For a room to sleep in for a night, my dad and the kids seemed to sleep okay, but I really struggled and just felt like it wasn’t really the sort of room I expected.
The man on the reception desk was friendly though and parking was easy to access, plus it’s located in a good place to get to the local attractions.
A previous guest had obviously had a dog in the room we were given. There were thick clumps of dog hair over the carpet, with little piles collecting around the skirting and bases of furniture. The carpet was very grubby and stained.
There were dirty marks on the walls, the bathroom was not clean (I had wiped the toilet seat down prior to using it, as there were yellow, removable marks on it!) and the sink was not draining properly.
When we complained, a lovely receptionist (Nicola) brought up a vacuum cleaner...she was clearly embarrassed that we had been given a room that had not been cleaned properly, if not at all. She explained to us that this hotel is "pet friendly", however her vacuum cleaner was not powerful enough to remove the hairs from the carpet. My argument would be that if the hotel wants to be "pet friendly" then it should have the necessary cleaning equipment.
After a failed attempt to clean the carpet, we were offered another room, so had to pack up and move. This time we were on the opposite side of the hotel, looking out on the motorway. This was extremely noisy, with cars on the go all night, very close to our window. So we had to sleep with the window closed, on a very warm night.
The friendly and helpful chap at reception, Roy, deserves a mention.
I was booked for two nights. I only needed short quick access to internet. The room key wallet states
" *30 minutes free per 24 - hour period
24 hour customer helpdesk 03306601141 "
My first day 30 minutes was OK but there was no second day 30 minutes. Why not?
Was told the hotel was fully booked and was given a single room which wasn't any good as I was traveling with a work colleague and didn't fancy sharing beds.
We walked back to reception and explained the situation and was told to wait while the receptionist phoned the manager, we was then told that the mistake was the room just wasn't set up correctly and she would put the other beds in place which I found impossible as the room was tiny just big enough for a double bed.
After 45 minutes our room was ready we opened the door to find two single beds in a disabled room , not happy at all as this wasn't the room we had booked no apology from the hotel the room was boiling.
To make matters worse due to the massive delay with check in the restaurant next to the hotel had finished serving food so after 6 hours driving and 10 hours at work no food a terrible room won't be returning here.
