Now for plus points - breakfast was lovely, staff were friendly and chatty. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. Plenty of choice on the menu and the portion sizes were generous. Good location. The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel are definitely worth a visit.
We had originally booked in for a 2 night stay but with the issues with the room and noise from building work decided to check out after one night. As previously said our rooms were double rooms on the second floor but they were very small. If we were ever to go back would not want to stay in the rooms that we had.
We were there for 3 nights. on a bed and breakfast basis, the breakfasts were a buffet style to eat as much as you wanted, the food was tasty and always nice and warm
We had dinner on two of the nights and paid £15 for a three course dinner, and the next time £13 for two courses, plenty to choose from on the menu, very good food.
Throughout our stay all of the staff we met were friendly and provided a great service, nothing was too much trouble for them, they certainly work very hard.
Many thanks to the lovely staff for making our stay a pleasant comfortable one.
The new rule of walking with a mask on in restaurants had just come in that day and I was exempt. On entering (after speaking with the host) we walked around the corner I smiled to staff and a gentleman (who wasn’t near me; was in my sight line though) with a white shirt and white hair waved his hands around his face in circles dramatically a few times; I looked away as I was confused. I assumed after i sat down that it was something to do with a mask. I found this behaviour degrading and it put me on edge; rules don’t mean we need to treat each other any differently or unprofessionally. It was only when one of our party said he’s usually having a joke and a laugh and that he comes from the beancross that I eased slightly.
The food was absolutely outstanding; I had the steak and could cut it with a butter knife so compliments to the chef!
The prices are great and each person that brought food to the table was polite, professional, genuine and couldn’t do enough for you.
Especially the lady with blonde hair tied in a low pony; who treated us like family and sorted our takeaway cakes.
Thank you Park Hotel it was a pleasure!
When we got there they had all three rooms cleaned and ready for us. Great job.
After the funeral we had a private room for as long as wanted it and the very reasonably priced tea was spot on (actually too much).
Well done Park Hotel.
The main course appeared within a few minutes of order which suggest sitting on a hot plate for convenience until ordered. This result in unpleasant tasting steak pie with soggy puff pastry, stewed carrots possibly from a tin and for my wife battered fish that was soggy and grease laden.
Only the chips served had passed marks. Perhaps the low cost budget menu is the reason for the quality.
It I’ll be a while before I attempt that again.
Charlie head waiter was loud and intrusive and very nosey. And not organised. The way the bill was made was unbelievable.
The organisation was sloppy. The tables were set in 3 rows so all back to back! When a square set up would have allowed everyone to talk to each other.
The ordering was a shambles. We all pre ordered as requested! To then be told when we arrived, it was now a changed menu.
No table cloths or cloth napkins and sticky tables. This was not the standard we expected!
The venue is dated and needs refurbished, tacky in places and unclean messy bathrooms
£9.50 for a pint shandy and a courvosier with Asda ginger ale!!!!! No babies available.
The bar man didn’t know a brandy glass?! Where was the lads training!!! Non existent.
After our meal a few started to leave but we were still there and to pay the bill, and a bar staff member came running into the function room about payment!! How very unprofessional. Was not impressed at all. Would not recommend, used to be a beautiful hotel. Sadly not now! First impressions of main door puts u off immediately! Front door chipped and paint missing. Very bad!
We arrive to a Luke warm greeting and given the same generic greeting that you get from any hotel, we were asked would we be dining in the hotel that evening and that breakfast was between 8-10 so far looking kind of standard. We headed to our room that's room 55 on the third floor everywhere was clean and tidy. Entered our room and that's when things went down hill. The room was freezing cold the carpets felt damp underfoot. So decided to have a shower to warm up now as a couple we were saddened that they only provided one towel and the Shower was a bit like a roulette wheel either hot or cold. My partner complained to reception and shortly afterwards a young member of staff arrived with a secondary towel and to inspect the heating he felt the radiator and he explained that he would provide us with a heater. That never arrived bed was not the most comfortable either. Managed to get some sleep awoke to have breakfast again in keeping with the theme it was cold maybe tepid at best. So in a nut shell it's ideal for penguins who don't like to bathe or I'm sure it's nice in the summer
