Have to give it 5 stars. Incredible value for money. I've stayed in plenty places that were much more expensive that didn't offer anything like the value. The outside of the hotel isn't attractive but inside it's warm, modern and clean. Room was to a high standard. Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly. Ok, the shower was a bit under powered but you can't grumble for the price. Would definitely stay again.

Served promptly and the staff were friendly and attentive. Had chicken goujons to start and there were 5 good sized ones on the plate. Usually I expect about two or three so that was a plus to start off with. Had steak pie for main course and it came in a small looking dish, however once the puff pastry was sliced through it became apparent it was full to the top with meat. Sometimes you find some places have more gravy than steak but I had no worries in this occasion. My wife had Macaroni cheese and said it was o e of the best she'd tried. I had a taste and and wasn't too saucy or dry but was just right. Spot on. Really enjoyed our dinner.

Lets start way back in September 2005, I had originally booked the Hotel Cladhan for my wedding meal and evening reception having booked to get married at the local Calendar House on the 23rd July 2007. Due to the size of my family the 90 (or was it 70, I can't quite remember) people allowed in the room to watch us get married simply was not enough so we had to cancel the Calendar House and opted to have an evening wedding ceremony at the Hotel Cladhan. I was assured by at least 2 different members of staff that this was not a problem and my 150 guests would all fit in the Caledonia Suite for the ceremony. The Caledonia Suite is the only suite licensed to hold a Civil Marriage Ceremony. Over the next 20 months I had several issues including family members booking to stay at the hotel but not receiving the discount off of the room price that I was assured my guests would receive, and being advised hot food could be served as part of the reception buffet to then be advised a few months down the line that it could not.... Minor issues I agree...

Lets fast forward to 3 weeks before my wedding.....
Bearing in mind that I had ALWAYS advised the cladhan my minimum number of guests for the ceremony would be 150, on June 4th (less than 3 weeks before the wedding) my mother receives a call from the Cladhan to inform her there is no way 150 guests will be able to fit in the Caledonian Suite and as a result I was facing having to 'uninvite' some of my guests......... Again please bear in mind they have known at least 150 guests would be at the ceremony since september 2005.
In the end I had to apply for a one off licence from Falkirk Council to have the marriage ceremony take place in the larger Kemper Suite (which did not arrive until friday 22nd june and at a cost of £150.00 to me!) I also still had to pay (albeit a reduced rate of) £50 for room set up!

Now to the wedding day:
I arrive at 6.30pm (the time that the cladhan have now been well aware of for almost 2 YEARS!) to find a big german tour bus parked taking up the full road in the car park so neither my bridesmaids car or my car can get anywhere near the drop off point! 10 minutes later they eventually get the bus shifted!!!! AARGH!

There were several issues on the night eg: I had to tell THEM when I wanted to cut my cake, I had to get my guests out of the room to allow them to reset it for the evening reception, I had purchased the biggest buffet which should have had tea and coffee served with it (as I had a few elderly guests and many guests were driving and would have appreciated a cup of tea) and lo and behold, no tea or coffee was served.
I also had 2 guests who are wheelchair users and the only disabled access to the room (through the caledonian suite) was closed, I had to then run round the front of the hotel in the pouring rain to get someone to open the doors to allow disabled access which should never have been shut off in the first place!

I had 21 months of problems with this hotel culminating in the fact that they couldn't even get it 'alright on the night'. I am sure there are people out there who have had a better experience than I did with this hotel, or at least I certainly hope so, and if you did, please leave a review as I would happily view the other side of the coin.

I did try to contact the Cladhan wedding organiser about a fortnight after our wedding to discuss the issues, but could not get a hold of her. (In fairness i only tried the once, but I was so scunnered I just could not be bothered after that.)

As for our overnight stay (I feel it was a bit cheeky that initially the hotel was going to charge me and my husband for what should have been a 'complimentary' bridal suite as we were only having an evening wedding, they only removed the £60 charge due to the mess up with the room size!) it was ok, free tea and coffee, the telly worked, don't go to this hotel for the view though!

My family and friends never actually got the chance to stay in this hotel, so we have no idea what he rooms are like or what the food is like but we did have drinks there in January 2006.... the reason being in October 2005 I booked 15 rooms for my wedding guests from Northern Ireland to stay there on Saturday 8th July under my name, JAMISON ( they were to phone and put their own name beside a room and also book other nights as they wished) as it had been recommended by my wedding reception organisers, for £45 per room per night ( a deal with The Three Kings and Cladhan Hotel). It was also in a great location for my guests, who could walk across Callendar Park, if they wanted, to Callendar House, where the wedding ceremony was going to take place. In January 2006 I upped the number of guest rooms to 25, as more of my friends and family were willing to come! We then booked a bus to take guests from Callendar House to The Three Kings were we were having our evening reception with a pick-up at the Cladhan for meal and eveing guests who couldnt fit into Callendar House due to limited numbers!

I told my guests they would need their credit card details, as you do when making a hotel booking, but i was later informed thay were never asked for it or in most cases contact numbers!!

But in March 2006, i phoned to see how many more rooms needed a name put beside it, to discover 10 of the rooms had been stroked off without my consent, noone from the Cladhan Hotel had the decency to ask me if it was ok to take back 10 rooms that noone had put their name beside yet? If they had asked i would have put names down of the older people who hadnt got around to phoning, but what made matters worse was that several of those rooms were to be left under my surname for my mum and dad, myself and my husband, my sisters, brothers, all JAMISONS!!

Well, the owner, Douglas, said that he had authorised the removal of the 10 rooms, and later tried to rectify his mistake by phoning around other hotels in the Falkirk area, while my partner and I drove to hotels and guests houses, but everything was booked up on the 8th July, a very busy summer weekend, thats why i had booked early in the first place!! Eventually we found a hotel, Antonine, in the centre of town which had 10 rooms available. But now our guests were split into two hotels and I had arranged a buffet in the Cladhan Hotel for Friday 7th, as a get together for my family and friends travelling across from NI...so the 'younger' guests had to be moved to the Antonine hotel, leaving 'older' guests closer to Callendar House in the Cladhan!

Then to top it all off, three days before my wedding, on Wednesday 5th July, I phoned the Cladhan Hotel to make sure everything was ok, when the receptionist informed me my remaining guests (15) were being moved, which I was told due to electrics not working in some of the bedrooms, yet when I spoke to one of my guests back home, she said she had been told it was due to a bus tour!!!!!! By this point I was in absolute tears, of the 15 guests, some were being moved to the Antonine, others to The Park Hotel, and three couples were staying in the Cladhan!!!!! Guests all over Falkirk!! But when I went to the Cladhan Hotel to sort this all out, as they didnt have any contact numbers for my guests, I was treated like they couldnt give a damn! I felt so let down, and just did not need this three days before the wedding. The receptionist didnt have a clue, as the 'booking procedure' consisted of a tatty old diary, which had so many scribbles and tip-ex on the "Sat 8th July", it was illegible, any wonder they didnt have a clue who was going where and who was staying!!

I confronted the manager, Douglas, about the german "bus tour" and why my guests, who were booked there for longer had been ousted instead of the bus tour, which he poorly denied, but it all makes sense now, my guests were just a one-off weekend, bus tours, if treated correctly, would come back year and year again!! I have never felt so let down by a so-called business! I demanded all my guests were moved out of their hotel, which they did, with not as much as an apology or offer of compensation! They rehoused four sets of couples in the The Park Hotel, and a 'person' there agreed it seemed likely the Cladhan Hotel were hoping to move all my guests (at £45 per room) to allow for the bus tour (£80+ per rm per night)at some point, it just had to be a day before my guests arrived and two days before the wedding!! I am disgusted at the way that hotel is being run....we cancelled the 'buffet ' and reorganised it for the Park Hotel, who were fantastic, and helped to put my mind at ease that my guests would be well looked after, which they were and given taxis for the wedding. The Antonine Hotel were also fantastic, they bent over backwards to accommodate over 40 guests and ensured my guests had taxis for the Saturday 8th wedding!! I had a fantastic day, but the Cladhan Hotel management team could so easily have ruined it.........

A truly 100% enjoyable experience throughout my stay!
The most prominent attribute the hotel had was the courteousness and friendliness of the staff. It is so refreshing and nice to experience service with a smile, which is so often forgotten in today's society!
The hotel restaurant is inviting and has a friendly atmosphere to rival many of the "so called" top restaurants that I have eaten in over the years.
The meals were out of this world and again I have no qualms in saying that it could easily be mistaken for “Michelin Starred” or “Rosetted” food with meticulous attention to detail. Having worked in the Hospitality industry and had the fortune to travel worldwide and stay in the best of establishments with my career I can honestly say that I haven't had such a down-to-earth and friendly experience for years.

The hotel was just meant to be a stop on the road to Edinburgh after an “inadvertently” long journey from England! But after one night I decided to stay on in Falkirk for 3 nights. I honestly would recommend the hotel to anyone passing through or intending to stay in the area.

I should have read the previous report as it would have given me advance warning of what was to become a bad experience. We booked for 2 nights but left after 1 as the place seemed in a permanent state of disaster. Arrangements were not taken into account, staff seemed completely disinterested, the food was rubbish. Take a sleeping bag and sleep in a ditch. It will be a more satisfying experience.

I went online and reserved 3 double bedrooms for my wedding party in 2013. Being so very far in advance I thought the cheap room price was some kind of early bird offer. Just to be sure I emailed the hotel with my booking references etc but nobody got back in touch.

2 months later I emailed again asking about multiple room bookings and discounts for large groups, someone got back in touch at this point but no mention regarding previous booking.

Then on the 3rd month after booking I had a voicemail saying there had been an error on the booking system and that the price was wrong so I had to pay £70 per room per night instead.

I disputed this with the hotel as it was THEIR error and they had sent out a confirmation email with the agreed price.

The hotel continued to make me feel really silly by saying I had booked breakfast and not a room. Yet my reservation clearly said - Bed and Breakfast.

I didn't want to be an annoying customer and could appreciate their error but also felt that I had been missold so I had to ask them if there was a reasonable compromise we could come to (The hotel should really have apologised and made some kind of counter offer like a free dinner and a bottle of wine instead or a discounted rate on the rooms if they were not wanting to honour the price)

The Hotel Cladhan were not wishing to do this, again putting the responsibility on me. When I threatened to take matters further they offered a £10 discount and that was all.

Before I had a chance to respond to this I had another email saying that the hotels director had returned from holiday and has said that I should have known it was a computer error and they wont honour the price and they have cancelled my booking all together!! So they are not even honouring the £10 discount alternate offer either!! Disgusting.

Basically, I am not an unreasonable person but THEY made an error and I would have happily paid more money for the room provided they had apologised and offered some level of decent customer service. They would rather lose me as a customer and the many people I would have recommended stay in their hotel whilst attending my wedding rather than accept their mistake and try to rectify the problem.

Absolutely no care about customer service, would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!

This hotel looks like a real nice hotel on the website, even tho the info about anything on the website is scarce, and when I arrived, I could see why. It's looks like an ex YMCA or somewhere 'rab c nesbitt' would stay. We paid 75 quid for quite possibly 'the worst hotel' I've ever encountered for that kind of money! The room was overcrowded with beds, the phone didn't even work, had to call reception from my mobile! There wasn't even tea or coffee facilities! I couldn't even enjoy a nice shower, the water pressure was that poor, it took half hour to wet you! And they just didnt seem at all bothered?? Like it was normal? Honestly, please don't stay in this place, it's horrendous! Badly managed, and a rip off! Go the premier inn, at least you can get a decent shower in there!!!

We stayed at Hotel Cladan for four nights in the family suite. Room was ok, but there was no hot water for our entire stay. Spoke with others who had the bad fortune to have the same problem we did. Hotel owners were unresponsive, pretended that it was just our room that had no hot water, perhaps we were mistaken! Scotland is cold, cold water did not help our stay. NEVER AGAIN at the Cladan.

My sister-in law and husband and my wife and I were visiting Falkirk to see the Kelpies and ride on the Falkirk Wheel. We prefer independent hotels to the major hotel chains and we were not disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located(only 5 minutes from the High Street) but has little or no views but is very functional. It was £65 for B&B and £12 for a three course dinner and the bar prices were very reasonable.

We were in room 13 which had 3 double beds and two TVs. It seemed to have been recently renovated as it was very well maintained and clean. The only drawback was the window which didn't close causing us to hear some outside noise from a kitchen fan/generator. The fire-door in the corridor banged every time it was opened. This should be easy to fix but it was annoying. There were plenty of toiletries and tea/coffee and biscuits.

The breakfast was more than adequate and served (Don't you hate those bland buffets) Plenty of tea/coffee/toast.

If we were in Falkirk again we would certainly stay here again and this time we would test the £12 dinner menu as it seemed very popular.
