Returned to the Gilvenbank after some time in the "wilderness" This was a midweek visit and the hotel was very quiet. Once again booked into a superior room for the extra comfort and space. The staff are still extremely friendly and helpful and although we only stayed one night, we were delighted with the serenity of the hotel. Had dinner...

Visited for the new menu as i have been a good few times and was delicious, but this time i was horrified i took the lunch time meal deal i got the mushrooms for my starter but they weren't to bad but mushrooms aren't hard to cook, however the light stake pie on the meal deal was a complete joke,...

This is quite a large restaurant which offers the standard pub grub fare. The service was good and informal and the food pleasantly presented. There is plenty parking and you don't feel rushed in any way. Nothing was either outstanding but neither was any dish below expectations.

We visited the Gilvenbank Hotel for a special lunch with friends. There was 7 of us in the party and we were very impressed and will certainly visit again. The food was nicely presented and there was plenty of it. The staff were really friendly and well trained even though they were all very young. The dining room and bar area...

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding, nearby. Quite a large hotel catering for locals ---Sunday roast, Karaoke evening, Quiz night -----as well as providing rooms, and function rooms/wedding venue. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Our room was a little tired looking. Could do with some of the furniture replacing. Very good, room only rate. Can't comment on breakfast...

As a family we usually chose Gilvenbank Hotel first when choosing to go out for a meal. The staff are very welcoming, the food is quite quick. Everything we have ever tried has been very good. Very disappointing if you haven't booked a table and they cant fit you in. But normally they do try and accommodate you.

Room was OK for the price but the walls between the rooms very thin. Ordered BBQ chicken wings which arrived quickly boiling hot, too hot to heat. Main was lamb shank which was lovely, served with overcooked onions which nearly disintegrated, carrots that had a black look to them and overcooked, probably tinned. Mash potato was obviously bought in and...

This hotel also has a restaurant and bar that is used by non-residents, and which maybe is a major part of the business. The hotel seemed to have few people staying when I was there. The room was comfortable and clean. The only drawback was that the floor was very creaky, as was the floor of the corridor outside. If...

We visited the restaurant known as wheelans bar. The menu albeit initially looks very good with plenty of choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The starters were greasy with water cress on the salad, I mean who eats that, the mains were very bland stodgy and covered in green stuff which we could assume was parsley. We told...
