Great location in the heart of St Andrews with easy walks to restaurants and local shops. Bedroom was excellent, clean, fresh linen, warm room, in room tea maker and a morning Scottish breakfast choice that would be fitting of many of the local 4 star hotels - great to see then supporting Scottish food industry -). Staff were so helpful...

Everything about this location is perfect, the hotel, the staff and food. A cosy hotel right in the middle of the town. Definitely a great location for golfers and those that just want a relaxing stroll around St Andrews.

I required to stay in St Andrews for a week to attend the University. The Albany offered a very competitive rate and was very close to the school I was attending. My room was not huge, but adequate and very comfortable, with the required facilities and sufficient space to study with a laptop and books, albeit sitting on the bed....

I arrived in the evening and met Ellen. She was absolutely welcoming and even helped carry my large suitcase up the stairs to my room on the first level. This was indeed a great help/ relief as I was weary from having travelled the whole day from London to Edinburgh and then onward to St. Andrews. The single room I...

I really enjoyed my three night stay here. The staff were terrific, the breakfast ample and the bed comfortable! The rooms are quite small but well appointed. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone - extremely central, warm and friendly service, well equipped room, with a radiator that can be turned off, and a window that opens. And good food (e.g. catering for coeliacs).

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer. ... more   less
