This was our fifth stay at this amazing hotel. We had booked to stay for 3 nights with plans to move on to Edinburgh for a couple of nights. However, anywhere else would have been a compromise so we decided to extend our stay for an extra 2 nights. Our deluxe room with private outside area was beautiful, comfortable and huge! All the rooms are beautifully decorated and are all different in style. We ate in the restaurant for 3 of our five nights and had room service on the fourth. Skilled chefs prepare outstanding food here. It is consistently fab. The starter of beef brisket with black garlic, watercress, oyster and onions was excellent. Fillet of turbot with white asparagus, courgette and basil, brown shrimp and a soy and citrus blurred blanc was amazing. My wife liked the lamb so much that she had it twice. The desserts are all homemade and excellent too. Breakfast is always wonderful. The best quality ingredients are used and it’s freshly cooked to order. All the staff is excellent but we would like to say a special thanks to Robert who looked after us so well, organized our extended stay and is a credit to the hotel. He was friendly, efficient and professional. We look forward to going back to One Dev very soon.

This is a class establishment. The hotel consists of five buildings all together, with high ceilings and stained glass windows. A step back in time. We stayed one night but wished it was longer. Rooms are well appointed. Food is superb and great value for money. We were well served by Garry the Porter and Oxana in the restaurant. Both are great ambassadors for the company. Will be back for sure.

Fantastic location and room, let down by a poor dining offer. Weve been coming to HDV for over 20 years and it is our GO TO place to stay when we are travelling or visiting unfamiliar places. Shame about this place. A great room and building, but food well below usual HDV standard After a great first impression with a very nice young lady on reception and after being shown to a very nice room, unfortunately things went rapidly downhill. As we came down for dinner, we were informed, belatedly that there was to be no alcohol served inside with meals? Hint, probably an idea to provide customers with this sort of information in advance so they can bring jumpers, jackets, etc. Oh well! If those are the rules, then we'll eat outside. After a ten or fifteen minute period asking if we could have the patio heater lit, with no-one seemingly trained, we were then informed that there was no gas for the patio heater? After 13 months of lockdown now being lifted with the added condition of no alcohol at inside tables, is it really beyond someone in the HDV procurement team to provide a gas bottle for an outdoor heater? Starter Seemingly defrosted, but not warmed or toasted Blinis (powdery and foul tasting) We ewt them very often, they are not supposed to taste like that or have that texture. Finely chopped up raw red onion/shallot Requested more bread, expecting some thin toast or soda bread, supplied with two muffins. Smoked salmon was excellent to be fair. Main My wife's fish had either been very quickly defrosted or harshly cooked from frozen causing the sinews of very dry flesh to shred ( à la crispy shredded duck) As opposed to falling off the bone in chunky pieces, like a nice piece of freshly cooked fish from a decent chippy.NOT HDV usual standard. Average overcooked burger, I've had better at McDonald's Not HDV standard.Decent fries though. Cheese and Biscuits! Can't go wrong.... No steak on the menu at HDV? How much notice do you need? I'd have thought that in the first week of reopening, after lockdowm, a venue like HDV would have pulled out all the stops, almost like another reopening with bells and whistles for returning customers. Breakfast was slightly bizarre, we gave an initial order for tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit salad and a couple of rounds of toast and then slightly afterwards gave an order for two breakfasts. Within two minutes the full breakfasts were rushed out by a young man and we duly began eating, we both wondered what had happened with our tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit salad and toast. I had finished my breakfast, somewhat dry in the mouth and my wife was near to finishing when the tea, coffee, fruit salad, juice and toast finally arrived. Within a couple of minutes someone else arrived to take our plates and the remaining toast that had been there barely two minutes. I asked if I could have another remaining slice from the toast rack before the two slices were quickly whisked away. That's not how breakfast should be served. In summary Superb room, if a little warm. Staff were all very pleasant, particularly the young blonde lady at Reception. Great set-up in the courtyard with plenty of friendly, attentive staff providing drinks and snacks. Unfortunately, last night's evening meal and breakfast service (breakfast order was delicious btw) nowhere near HDV standard, see reviews of Stratford-upon-Avon, Sugar House Bristol,Avon Gorge,Winchester, etc. We were considering staying again on our return journey through Glasgow, but not eating here again. To be fair we were given a generous refund, but I'd rather you had kept my money and just delivered the usual HDV offer.

Had the pleasure of attending a wedding at this stunning venue. The setting was immense, the food amazing, and the staff went over and above their roles to ensure we had a great day. They were very accommodating of any requests, and ensured our requirements were met swiftly. Special thanks to Christopher, who really met out of his way to ensure the whole wedding party had the best day possible. Many thanks to this great venue

I have previously stayed at The Blytheswood Hotel when visiting Glasgow but this was a very pleasant change and convenient for visiting the West End ,nearby restaurants and bars,( although a lot still closed when we visited ). The hotel has traditional decor with lovely real fires burning in communal lounges giving it a very cosy atmosphere. Our suite The Belle Époque was beautifully decorated, very spacious with a beautiful bathroom and roll top bath. The room overlooked a gorgeous little courtyard with outside tables and a quaint bothy with log effect fire and trees with fairy lights for outside drinks. Super cute. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the tasting menu was superb overseen by the very talented Gary Townsend . Food definitely worthy of a Michelin star. We will be back !
