We stayed here for 2 nights on a work trip - initially it had been booked for one night but our plans changed at the last minute. Very friendly and helpful staff from the woman who changed the booking on the phone, to the receptionists on arrival and the waitress at breakfast. We had 4 single rooms on the second...

A friendly & warm welcome at reception & a lovely spacious room where all facilities were provided. Room & en suite were clean & serviced each day by friendly staff. Although hotel was very busy during time in question there was no disturbance to sleep. Breakfasts & bar meals were adequate with piping hot plates ensuring food was always hot...

I have stayed at the Royal Hotel for 11 consecutive years in a row now and can honesty say that I could not fault anything about it. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating with a warm welcome each time. The rooms are nice, always clean and comfortable with all the usual facilities, hair dryer, wifi, tv, tea /...

We booked this hotel on line as we were going to the Highlands for a week. The hotel seems to cater to the coach bus business, which is fine. I am pretty sure that other then the bar tender, we were the youngest ones there that night. The hotel is old and in need of some touch-ups, touching up a...

Typical Scottish hotel. You had to walk through a maze to get to your room. The rooms are very small and extremely hot with no ventalation. Our room was next to what appeared to be a gas station which made us not want to open a window. And as another reviewer wrote the bathroom is on the bright side with...

Great old hotel with a room out the back, like others walked the maze of corridors before grinding the room. Room was cramped and thought would go through the bathroom floor as there must be boards missing. Had to ask reception to turn off heating as it was ridiculously hot and the window could only be opened a fraction at...

On entering hotel from the car park we thought, what the feck are we letting ourselves in for. Through a rabbit warren of corridors we eventually get to reception. The guy on reception was great, he took our details and gave us directions through the warrens to our room. The room is what can only be described as compact and...

We booked to stay at the Royal Hotel in Thurso because we were making a surprise visit to my elderly aunt and uncle. We were familiar with the Hotel as we had visited Thurso several times and had had afternoon tea there, although we had never stayed overnight before. We actually arrived earlier than we planned and therefore needing a...

Can't see what all the moaning on here is all about, I enjoyed the place. A spacious twin-bedded room for myself, comfy bed, good tv and an awesome hot and powerful shower. All the staff were friendly and did an efficient job, food was good and all for £30 a night B&B. What's not to like there? My only gripe?...

This hotel was a mixed bag. The hotel was clean and pleasant, the room was nice and the food was good, however there were things that let it down. Mainly the service. The receptionist that checked us whilst quick and efficient it was hardly service with a smile nor friendly for that matter. Breakfast as much the same. While I...
