We stayed here as part of our NC500 road trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and we had a very nice dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was also good. Interesting fact - the hotel is on the shortest street in the world.

Warm welcome. Room really clean and tidy. Polite and interested staff. Some public spaces a little worn, but in general, this is a great place at a reasonable price. We were told that parking was on the public road outside hotel which I was a bit doubtful about but it worked just fine. We had evening meal in the resturant; good service and great food. Would stay again.

Mackays was our base in Wick for explaining the Northern Scottish coastal area. It’s a gorgeous very recognisable building in Wick, with the shortest street in the world (Ebenezer Place). Staff are all absolutely wonderful and very polite. The restaurant here is also worth checking out whether you’re staying here or not- it’s highly rated and for good reason.

I was very impressed with the level of customer service and flexibility. We made a mistake while booking resulting in the wrong sleeping arrangements for our group of six. The problem was quickly resolved. The food was tasty, whisky bar very impressive. And two EVs fully charged in the morning. Great place to stop on the NC 500

We stayed for two nights on a tour of a northern Scotland. The hotel is well situated on the river on the centre of Wick, and a good stopping-off point on the NC500. Parking is a quiet one-way street alongside the hotel. If you are interested in architecture/history, it’s worth looking looking at Pulteneytown, close by the hotel, designed by Thomas Telford, and laid out in the early 19th century for the herring fishermen and workers. We had a pleasant and comfortable room (number 22) with a good view of the river and over the town. We slept well, and the bathroom looked relatively recently refurbished, although there is no separate shower, and more shelf space would be helpful. We had breakfast and dinners in the hotel, and the food is good. Service was pleasant, but a bit disorganised at times (we waited about 45 minutes for our cooked breakfast the first morning), and at dinner, some staff were working harder than others.. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful, and gave us a lot of local information. On returning to Wick, we would stay here again.
